The role...

The role of Technical Delivery Manager is key to our continued push toward product-orientated development teams delivering fantastic software to our customers.

This role is within our vehicle telematics business. In the ever-evolving landscape of innovation, our company thrives on identifying and seizing opportunities for ground-breaking products.

You will be at the forefront of our dynamic team, collaborating with skilled engineers, product managers, stakeholders, and customers. Together, we're committed to delivering unparalleled solutions that not only enhance our current offerings but also elevate customer experience and drive business growth.

As Technical Delivery Manager you will play a crucial role in guiding our teams to deliver valuable outcomes, by ensuring teams needs are met and agile methodologies are adopted.

With a keen eye on the latest trends in agile delivery and the broader telematics market, you will ensure our teams are using the latest techniques to ensure timely delivery of valuable new products and features to our vast array of customers. You will work with other departments in the business to help remove impediments and increase flow of delivery so fantastic communication skills are essential.

This role is based from our state-of-the-art Telematics office in Crewe, Cheshire, with hybrid arrangements considered.

Your responsibilities will include...

  • Focusing on making things happen. Ensuring our teams have everything they need to succeed while being accountable for the delivery of products and services.
  • Agile and Lean ways of working. You can coach and mentor both team members and others to apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques. You can act as a recognised expert and advocate for the approaches, continuously reflecting and challenging the team i.e. have extensive knowledge of Agile methodologies and frameworks like Scrum, Kanban, XP, etc. You can create or tailor new ways of working, and constantly innovate.
  • Act as the administrator of the scrum/kanban board; ensure the cards are up-to-date and tools (e.g. Jira / Shortcut) are functioning well.
  • Strive for continuous improvement, analyse burndown charts and portfolio planning tools to understand the team's progress and cadence.
  • Technical Excellence. Ensuring our products are built to excellent technical standards and whilst keeping on top of tech debt, security, performance and resiliency.
  • Strong leadership in inspiring and guiding team to achieve objectives, with clear standards and foster a culture of cooperation & innovation.
  • Planning. You can lead a continual planning process in a very complex environment. You can identify dependencies in plans across services and co-ordinate delivery. You can coach other teams as the central point of expertise.
  • Team dynamics and collaboration. You are able to build and maintain teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well. You can identify problems or issues in the team dynamic and rectify them. You can identify issues through Agile 'health checks'.
  • Communicating between the technical and non-technical. You can mediate between people and mend relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels. You can manage stakeholder and client expectations and moderate discussions about high risk and complexity, even within constrained timescales. You're not afraid of having the tough conversations and doing so with compassion and empathy. You confidently develop and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders.
  • Life cycle perspective. Applying your experience in multiple parts of the product life cycle, encouraging and facilitate continuous improvement of the delivery team. You can recognise when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop. You can recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet them. You can plan and engage with the appropriate stakeholders at a particular stage in the project.

What do we expect of you?

  • Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Software Delivery Manager, Scrum Master, Technical Delivery Manager, or similar role.
  • Extensive experience in Agile ways of working within a complex business/department.
  • Proven experience delivering clear, confident written and verbal communication at all levels of an organisation.
  • Experience in building agile capabilities across multi-disciplined squads.
  • Previous experience with telematics solutions is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of the following systems and tools is desirable; AWS, Jira, Gitlab, Databricks
