Introduction
Are you an experienced and motivated Occupational Therapist looking for an opportunity to grow and develop? If so, join Pinhoe View, a 36 bed Acute Inpatient Hospital in Exeter as the Senior Occupational Therapist.
You will be working alongside the Lead Occupational Therapist and members of the Multi-disciplinary Team (MDT), to offer patient-centred care, implementing daily, meaningful activities which can support recovery. This entails competently assessing acutely unwell patients, including completing assessments, planning and implementing person-centred interventions and the ongoing evaluation of their care and treatment.
You will be required to run weekly Occupational Therapy groups, as well as supporting the team in facilitating weekly trips to the local stables, creating arts and crafts groups, supporting with personal care and organising days out in the community. This assists in reducing anxiety, encouraging healthy coping strategies, and finding meaning and motivation to daily life.

Your responsibilities as a Senior Occupational Therapist will include:
- Communicating effectively with a range of clinicians, managers, directors, associate directors, people who access services, carers/supporter/family members, stakeholders and agencies
- Completing Occupational Therapy assessments and person-centred interventions.
- Working in conjunction with other OTs / OTAs to develop and implement a hospital-wide structured activity programme, offering morning, afternoon and evening activities.
- Providing compassionate and effective leadership to junior staff including support staff and assistants
- Ensuring the delivery of occupational therapy student placements
- Supporting the completion of appraisals/personal development plans with junior staff
- To be responsible for the development and implementation of appropriate policies, protocols and care pathways
To be a Successful Occupational Therapist you will need:
- B.Sc. Honours Degree/M.Sc. Masters - Occupational Therapy
- Registered with the Health Professionals Council
- Member of Royal College of Occupational Therapist
- Extensive experience of applying occupational frames of reference and approaches
- Demonstrates evidence highly effective clinical reasoning skills
- Highly specialist knowledge of relevant assessment and treatment models
- Knowledge of how to work with individuals with mental illness

Join the team at Pinhoe View - a new purpose-built facility where a range of mental health services are provided for adults with acute mental health conditions across two wards and eight individual flats.
The 24-hour acute inpatient service is supported by a full multidisciplinary team, which specialises in the assessment, treatment and stabilisation of people suffering from a significant mental health episode and in crisis.
Clinical and therapeutic services at Pinhoe View are delivered in a safe environment, providing the opportunity for recovery, while rehabilitation services provide a pathway of care supporting individuals back to their community.
