About the role:

This is a newly created role based in London, reporting to the Director of Strategic Planning and Performance.

This role will require the successful candidate to develop, communicate and implement the strategic plan aligning multiple workstreams and supporting the planning process for the organisation to develop 3-year operating plans, corporate goals and corporate KPIs.

Experience of report writing and policy development for science-based organisations is preferable. This role reports into the Finance Function, commercial experience is not required.

About you:

Responsibilities include the following:

  • Developing a strong understanding of the organisation's ambition, strategic role as well as the individual strategies of the delivery teams and supporting services within the organisation.
  • Working with other key enabling functions e.g. PMO, HR, Finance, Procurement, Legal, Technology to synthesis and prioritise plans to develop ambitious, but achievable multiyear plans aligned to the corporate strategy.
  • Leading the operational enablement forum, in partnership with the Portfolio Managers, to manage the portfolio of business change initiatives ensuring projects are identified, prioritised, well planned, aligned, deliver value for money, and manage risk.
  • Assist in development of policy, guidance, and systems to support the process.
  • Looking across the organisation's resources to ensure that change plans and the operating rhythm of the organisation are in synch with each other.
  • Delivering assigned elements of our corporate reporting requirements.
  • Create a data collation process, making it clear and straightforward for people across the organisation to input performance, financial and impact data.
  • Manage the delivery of reports throughout the year, including but not limited to, the Annual Report, Annual Yearbook, Board Reports, monthly KPI reporting, Impact Report, GPG Report and all other ESG and carbon reporting.
  • Work closely with the Chief Communications Officer and General Counsel to ensure that all reports are delivered in appropriate formats, and in a timely manner for all Board Meetings.

Skills & abilities:

  • Proven track record of delivering large scale complex operational plans of significant financial value.
  • Outstanding planning and organising skills with ability to set clear expectations, drive accountability and the tenacity to drive plans/projects to conclusion. Ability to develop detailed delivery plans.
  • Ability to interpret and evaluate business-related information and challenge assumptions critically and objectively.
  • Experience of running senior stakeholder meetings.
  • Experience of collaborating and working with and managing teams within a matrix model to design and deliver complex project plans.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Depth and breadth of strategic thinking capability, able to see the woods for the trees.
  • Experience of designing operating and delivery models.
  • Excellent planning, estimating, and forecasting skills.
  • Excellent data analysis and reporting skills.
  • Ensuring adherence to organisational policies, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Experience in proposal writing and being able to distil complex information into compelling proposals.
  • Experience representing organisations externally, networking and building relationships.
  • The ability to handle complex negotiations and conflict situations with confidence, openness and in a positive manner and is seen as a trusted expert.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and relationships with stakeholders (internal and external), each of whom may have a different perspective.
  • Operational accountability for the forecasting and deployment of resources for a programme of works.
  • Sets performance standards and establishes monitoring procedures.

Education & experience required:

  • Degree /Masters level qualification
  • Relevant qualification such as prince 2, APMP, PMP, Managed Service Providers
  • Managing large scale building projects
  • Life Sciences/health care industry experience desirable
  • ESG experience

Salary will be determined by qualifications and experience along with other exceptional benefits.
