STARS is the name of our Charitable Fund at Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust. The charity supports the extra-extraordinary work happening across the Trust (More information is here: Home - Stars Appeal). As such, the Charity Director will be a dedicated representative of both STARS and Salisbury Foundation Trust and will exhibit a dedicated committed to transforming patient care through applying a business-minded and innovative approach towards driving the development of the STARS charity. .
The Charity Director will be responsible and accountable for the strategic leadership and delivery of all functions of STARS' income generation.
The responsibilities of this role encompass the oversight of all aspects of the charity's operations, with a focus on leading fundraising. A key focus of the role will be driving donor-centric partnerships and providing exceptional supporter experiences while bolstering exceptional stakeholder relationships.
The successful applicant will need to be confident to operate independently, manage the departmental function, interpret organisational policies and demonstrate compliance with all legal frameworks, alongside working to ensure that charitable business practices, operational functions and cultural standards are, encouraged, maintained and enforced across the team and the hospital.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Strategy - responsible and accountable for the strategic leadership and delivery of all functions of the STARS' income generation and operational activities, in line with the charity's objectives and the Charities Committee.
Community leadership - Responsible for developing and supporting a sustainable charitable ecosystem both directly around Salisbury Foundation Trust catchment and beyond.
Leadership & Management - responsible and accountable for providing inspiring and innovative leadership, nurturing a culture of ambition, support, and inclusion at STARS. Ensuring the alignment of the charity's vision, values, and behaviours while managing a high-performing team to secure substantial income, in line with best practice.
Governance and Compliance - responsible and accountable for ensuring STARS is compliant with all regulatory and legal obligations, including GDPR, The Fundraising Regulator, the Code of Fundraising Practice, and the Department of Health. Report to and advise the Charities Committee on income and expenditure, recruitment, governance reviews, and risk mitigation. Oversee charity audits and support the STARS team and volunteers in adhering to all charity policies and procedures.
Charitable Activities - responsible and accountable for leading STARS fundraising efforts by prioritising donor-centric practices and fostering lasting donor partnerships to secure significant charitable income. Develop a dynamic project and campaign pipeline focusing on the Salisbury Foundation Trust's key areas: research, medical equipment, staff well-being, patient care, capital campaigns, and addressing 'the area of greatest need'.
Financial & Risk Management - responsible and accountable for overseeing all STARS' financial transactions, management of assets and investments, and developing a reserves policy. Ensure timely reporting to the Charities Committee and manage property and insurance effectively.
External Relations and Communications - Manage corporate communications, public relations, and brand consistency. Increase brand awareness within the community and NHS Bodies and collaborate with external agencies to advance STARS goals. Communicate effectively with stakeholders, leadership to develop and support a sustainable charitable ecosystem both directly around Salisbury Foundation Trust catchment and beyond.

Essential criteria
- Specialist subject matter knowledge gained through relevant post graduate qualification or extensive experience in Fundraising. Membership of the Institute of Fundraising. Evidence of senior management level continuing professional development

Desirable criteria

- Familiarity with the NHS and NHS Charity landscape would be beneficial.
