Banking and Finance Knowledge Lawyer/Senior Knowledge Lawyer

We are looking for a Knowledge Lawyer/Senior Knowledge Lawyer to provide high quality knowledge support for our market-leading Banking and Finance team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to work with our experienced and well-respected Knowledge team, working in a supportive and collegiate environment. It would suit both someone who was looking to try a knowledge role for the first time as well as those with previous experience of professional support.

You may choose to be based in any of our London, Reading or Bristol offices and work on a part-time or full-time basis. We are also happy to discuss flexible working arrangements, which are common across the Knowledge Team and in the relevant Practice Group.

The Practice

Osborne Clarke LLP has been a key part of the European debt mid-market for years. Our work for lenders is characterised by high-quality risk management delivered in a commercially appropriate way. Our bank-panel positions make us an obvious choice for multi-bank transactions. We also advise major public companies, sponsors and private companies alike, providing commercial debt advice that goes far beyond legal documents.

The team includes specialists in Leveraged Finance, Real Estate Finance, Venture& Growth, Funds and Corporate Banking. We have strong relationships with all the UK's major clearing banks, as well as a number of credit funds and specialist lenders, and we are fully integrated into Osborne Clarke's fast-growing national and international network. We have an excellent reputation in all of our key sectors which include Financial Services, Telecoms, Media and Communications, The Built Environment, and Energy and Utilities, as well as hotels and leisure, healthcare, education and fund financings.

The banking team currently consists of 7 partners, 2 Legal Directors, 4 Associate Directors, 5 Senior Associates, 9 Associates, 5 Trainee Solicitors, 3 Solicitor Apprentices and 4 Paralegals.

The Opportunity

Knowledge is at the heart of Osborne Clarke's strategy, and you will be a key member of an innovative and purposeful Knowledge team. You will provide dynamic, technically excellent and business-focused support to the Banking and Finance team, implementing best practice professional support.

The Banking team sits within our Projects, Real Estate and Finance (PREF) Practice Group. You will work collaboratively with our existing Banking Knowledge Lawyer Director (who is also the Head of PREF Knowledge), the other PREF Knowledge Lawyers, the Banking Partners and other members of the Knowledge team as well as sales and marketing professionals and Partners in other parts of the firm. You will carry out your responsibilities with the support of your line manager - the Head of PREF Knowledge - and dedicated paralegal, PA and training administration support.

Like all our people, you will benefit from our multi-award winning development programme so that you are well supported and developed in your role to build a career in Knowledge.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Facilitate keeping the Banking team up-to-date on legal and regulatory change across the team's practice.
  • Organise the delivery of legal training, facilitating know-how sharing and maintaining a technically excellent collection of template documents.
  • Assist in the preparation of client 'insights' and produce reader-friendly internal updates and client publications.
  • Deal with queries from lawyers and clients regarding current law and practice.
  • Input into and help to deliver the Banking team Knowledge strategy and wider Osborne Clarke Knowledge strategy.

Skills and Experience

You will have an excellent knowledge of banking and finance law and its application to commercial business issues.

You will have an ability to present information clearly - both in writing and when speaking. You will be a pro-active self-starter with excellent organisational skills. You will be someone who thrives in a team environment, working collaboratively with the other PREF Knowledge Lawyers and wider Knowledge team.

Due to the technical nature of the work, we are looking for someone who is legally-qualified with relevant post-graduate experience. You may be a fee-earning lawyer in private practice or working within the legal team of a business, in academia or in a knowledge role elsewhere, or returning to work after a career break.

If you are unsure whether your qualifications and experience are right for the role, please do contact us - we are always happy to have informal conversations with people who would like to join our team.

Salary and benefits

We offer competitive salaries and generous benefits.
