About the role
This is a new role within VetPartners, responding to our increasing need to understand and report on sustainability metrics in the context of new European reporting requirements and company growth.
You'll be based within the Sustainability team reporting to the Head of ESG, but will also work closely with other business functions: in particular the Finance, Procurement and People teams. You'll help us understand our social and environmental impacts: leading on CSRD disclosures and supporting a broad range of sustainability projects.
Key responsibilities:
- Work across our business functions in the UK and Europe to collate ESG data.
- Provide management information to the Sustainability team and other areas of the business to support environmental and social sustainability improvements.
- Establish processes and controls for data collection, measurement and reporting of our sustainability position, practices and initiatives.
- Where we have incomplete information (e.g. waste volumes, travel information), implement data-gathering strategies or use robust estimation methods or government-approved conversion factors as appropriate.
- Continually review ESG data and policy gaps and develop improvement plans to close them, working with relevant stakeholders.
- Project manage CSRD compliance: mapping risks and opportunities against the reporting criteria and developing a detailed project plan to ensure implementation by Q3 2026, with a 'trial run' report in 2025.
- Manage the delivery of an annual sustainability report that aligns with our financial reporting year and is CSRD-compliant (supported by our Design and Marketing teams).
- Oversee our energy consultants' work on VetPartners' annual SECR and ESOS phase 3 (updates) and phase 4 compliance.
- Work closely with the data/finance team to provide information on financial risks and opportunities relating to ESG, and produce the annual climate-related financial disclosures ([T]CFD) report.
- Support our teams to provide responses to supplier/client/investor ESG questionnaires.
About you
- Experience in a sustainability/ ESG reporting or data management role.
- IT literate with competence in data management and use of associated software.
- Confident and effective communicator who can form good working relationships across countries, functions and business areas within the complexities of a matrix structure, and tailor reports and presentations to different audiences.
- Strong project manager with experience of managing projects with multiple stakeholders, influencing others to drive delivery.
- Ability to research and understand ESG legislation and advise actions for relevant stakeholders.
- Knowledge of sustainability/climate-related financial frameworks e.g. TCFD, SASB, ISSB, Natural Capital accounting.
- Qualification in a related field e.g. environmental science, data science, finance, or equivalent professional experience.
Please include a breif cover letter outlining how your previous experience relates to the role, and your motivations for applying.
Fluency in an additional European language (Dutch, French, German, Portuguese, Italian or Spanish) would be advantageous but is not a requirement.
