Help us reach more children!
Our Explorers Water Safety Education Volunteers in Wigan see thousands of school children each year - helping them to stay safe around open water. This takes a lot of hard work to co-ordinate, so we're looking for volunteers to help us administer this essential work.
If you are able to give a few hours each week to respond to school and group requests by email, co-ordinate volunteer availability, take bookings and follow up visits for feedback, we'd love to hear from you! This is a very flexible opportunity to volunteer from home with hours to suit you, helping to facilitate our important water safety messages.
Volunteering will need to be regular and spread across the week to maintain prompt communications, but the specific hours can be flexible, with less to do during school holidays.
Why we want you
Our Supporter volunteers ensure that the day to day nuts and bolts of the waterways happen be that monitoring activities on the towpath or that the running of teams and the necessary processes happen in the background. This can be anything from working with our Social Media Team to assisting with location and filming for productions. Our Supporting Volunteers also support our teams within our offices and even on the Towpath conducting audits.
Some of the things you might get up to in that role are listed below, but the specifics of what your role will involve can be discussed with your task manager
