Solutions Manager

Due to continued success, our innovative and growing Osborne Clarke Solutions (OCS) team has an exciting opportunity for a Solutions Manager to join them. This role will help shape the future of legal service delivery, working across both our internal legal operations and directly with our clients. You'll blend knowledge of how our organisation and our clients operate to deliver, design, and implement practical solutions that leverage our tech stack. We're particularly interested in candidates who bring demonstrable experience of deploying generative AI solutions within the legal sector (or within a professional services context) to meet business and client needs. The role is full time, permanent, usually based out of our Bristol or London offices. At present, we are working in a Hybrid model to enable us all to see the benefits of working at home and in the office.

The Team

Osborne Clarke's Solutions team plays a crucial role in helping clients explore exactly how they would like legal and related services to be delivered to maximise the value to their businesses. The team is client led, developing new products and services to deliver existing services better, and to deliver entirely new services to meet growing client needs. The team operates out of the UK and Europe, with teams of ex-lawyers, and technologists across locations.

Our Solutions programme has two key goals. First, to make sure we're responding to client demands for greater value, efficiency, and certainty from their lawyers, whilst maintaining the highest quality. Secondly, in helping us bring innovative ideas to the delivery of our, or our clients', current and new services. A significant part of this innovation involves integrating AI technologies throughout our offering.

Key Role Responsibilities:

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Lead engagement with internal and external clients, building strong relationships. This includes guiding stakeholders through the adoption of legal tech and AI-powered tools and workflows, ensuring clear communication and successful integration.
  • Solution Design & Problem Solving: Design and implement holistic solutions that encompass process, technology, and people. You'll effectively translate diverse business challenges into clear, innovative solutions, confidently applying ideation methodologies with support from senior team members, particularly when designing and implementing AI-driven solutions.
  • Technology & Data Proficiency: Leverage knowledge of legal technology and Generative AI applications to identify and implement high impact use cases for our practice groups and clients. You'll maintain a broad understanding of our firm's technology stack, with the ability to identify use cases across a broad range of practice areas to deliver results. This involves staying abreast of the latest advancements in AI, conducting thorough research, and fostering a culture of innovation and experimentation
  • Project & Delivery Management: Manage multiple projects for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring successful and timely delivery. This includes managing the full lifecycle of the project and solution.
  • Consulting & Enablement: Identify and champion opportunities for process improvement across legal operations and client services. You will support and contribute to change management initiatives, and design and deliver engaging workshops and training sessions for lawyers and clients on new technologies and processes.

Role Outline:

  • Be part of the team guiding the firm through the transformative potential of AI, ensuring that solutions are not only cutting-edge but also practical and impactful.
  • Lead support on delivery of client-facing work within the team and will be responsible for a selection of accounts from the firm's top 100 client list. This will be a mixture of mature client accounts with established technology solutions and new opportunities where we will need to establish credibility and develop appropriate solutions.
  • Lead and participate on calls with external clients and OC team members to understand and define requirements and technology use cases.
  • Oversee and manage the delivery of solutions to client and OC teams, enabling the adoption of the solutions.
  • Manage and contribute to the build of the resulting solutions through configuration of the OC technology stack, use of OCS' coding tools, and the development of automated documents for client and/or OC use.
  • Actively participate in the team's product development process, including client feedback sessions.
  • At all times act as a brand ambassador for Osborne Clarke Solutions.

Person Specification:

As well as having an interest in technology, disruption and problem solving, we need someone who has:

  • Demonstrable experience of deploying generative AI solutions within the legal sector (or within a professional services context) to meet business and client needs.
  • Evidence of stakeholder relationship management and communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts, especially those related to AI and its implications, to non-technical audiences both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a knack for designing practical and impactful solutions which meet clear business and client outcomes, even when working in unfamiliar areas of law.
  • Experience or understanding of workshop facilitation, training delivery, and change management principles, specifically applied to new technology and AI adoption.
  • Proven experience of working with workflow and automation technology.
  • Evidence of picking up new technologies quickly and becoming a subject matter expert in them.
  • Proficiency in project management and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Sound understanding of legal processes, the business of law, and commercial judgement.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  • Proactive, adaptable, curious, and a champion of innovation.
  • Experience of managing and accepting failure and developing resolution plans to evolve solutions.
