We are looking for Band 6 Senior Staff Nurses to join our Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU).

Band 6 salary: £38,768 - £46,124 per annum inclusive
Main duties of the job
- To provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families.
- To act as a role model and expert clinical practitioner.
- To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources.
- To promote a progressive attitude to the continual improvement of patient care through research and evidence based practice.
- To undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the Ward Manager.
- To be familiar with and adopt the principles of the NHS Chief Nursing Officers vision for CompassionIn Practice (NHS Commissioning Board Dec 2012).

- NMC Child Registered Nurse or NMC Adult registered nurse with relevant specialty Experience
- University accredited Intensive Care course or equivalent (e.g. Master's in Critical Care)
- Evidence of on-going professional development linked to demonstrable competencies

- Assessing & mentoring qualification
Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Understanding of the importance of research and evidence based practice
- Demonstrable experience as a registered nurse in an ITU setting
- Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing
- Awareness of cultural needs, equality and diversity
- Understanding of safeguarding issues according to Trust policies and procedures
- Understanding or evidence of fulfilling CPD requirements for revalidation

- Experience of supervising and assessing student nurses
