We are looking for:

A Senior Research Scientist that will focus on developing and performing sample extraction methods for metabolite analysis in non-clinical and clinical samples. You will supervise junior staff, conduct complex studies, validate equipment and software, and contribute to data analysis and report preparation. This role also involves taking on broader departmental responsibilities and supporting the development of new techniques.

Requirements:

  • BSc (Hons) in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biomedical Sciences or related subject
  • Previous experience of working in an analytical, biochemistry or similar laboratory
  • Experience of working to GLP
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organisational skills
  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office software

Key roles and responsibilities:

  • Perform the roles and responsibilities of a Research Scientist, taking responsibility for the supervision and completion of more complex/greater number of studies.
  • Develop suitable sample extraction methods for the analysis of non-clinical and clinical samples, and subsequently to pool (where required) and prepare such samples for analysis.
  • Take on wider departmental responsibilities, to include - equipment validation, software validation and management, SOP ownership.
  • Calculate and QC check data.
  • Review data obtained and prepare study updates and study data for discussion internally and for communication to the client/inclusion into reports.
  • Supervise, mentor and/or train more junior members of staff, in laboratory procedures and study conduct.
  • Assist in the development of new techniques.
  • Other general laboratory tasks, as applicable.
  • Support other members of staff in their work as appropriate or as directed by management.
