Job Title: Senior Project Buyer
Location: Coventry, UK
Core Hours: 08:00-16:35 (Mon-Thu) 08:00-15:10 (Fri).
Vacancy Type: Full-time, Permanent and Hybrid (subject to operational needs)
Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (subject to experience)

JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a Procurement professional with experience of managing time critical engineering procurement projects consisting of Fabrications, Mechanical /Electrical Automotive, electrical harnessing and general engineered components manufactured to detailed technical drawings.

The successful candidate would also have experience of sourcing a variety of OEM and / or 'off-the-shelf' products in support our expanding production and aftermarket business sectors.

JOB DUTIES

  1. Work closely with the Project Management team to ensure all supplier costs and timescales are in line with project and business deliverables.
  2. Agreed supplier responsibility, working with SQA to resolve issues and continually deliver improvements.
  3. Agree all sources for materials / service requirements, ensuring that suppliers are listed on Company approved supplier listing and that pricing and terms of trade agreed, flowed down, and adhered to.
  4. Maintain supplier quotation database.
  5. Drive effective use of business management system (QAD) in all aspects of role.
  6. Support all live projects, attending project review, planning meetings and bid support.
  7. Operate within the Procurement Team, establishing, maintaining, and managing a supply base capable of supporting the business requirements and project timescales.
  8. Drive supply chain improvements, delivering cost savings and supplier improvements.
  9. Negotiate supply contracts with new and existing suppliers to support business requirements including pricing, delivery terms, lead-times etc.
  10. Ensuring all relevant terms and conditions are flowed down to the supply chain and management of the supplier to ensure these are adhered to.
  11. Placing of purchase orders and expediting deliveries.
  12. Management of open purchase order records.

CRITICAL OUTPUTS

  1. Reporting against set KPI criteria including cost reduction and supplier delivery performance.
  2. Effectively operate individually and as part of a team, managing suppliers to ensure support of business priorities.

EXPERIENCE

  • Experience of working in a Purchasing Role within a manufacturing/production environment with responsibilities for both Production and Aftermarket material requirements
  • Experience of managing and developing a wide-ranging supplier portfolio
  • Knowledge and Experience ofITAR/Foreign Controls an advantage but not essential
