Senior Product Designer
Department: Product
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: United Kingdom
Reporting To: Head of Design
Compensation: GBP 60,000 - GBP 80,000 / year
Description
Hi I'm Elvin, Head of Design.
We're a high-growth, HR-Tech start-up building and selling software that helps in-house recruitment teams attract, hire, and onboard the right talent. Today, we have a strong foundation in place, with a mature product, rapid growth, strong product-market fit, and happy customers.
We have bold ambitions and a clear vision for our product's future. In 2024, we successfully delivered 207 new features and enhancements, including several major solutions that set our product apart, attracted new business, and addressed the evolving needs of our existing users. As we continue to scale in 2025 and beyond, we're seeking a Senior Product Designer to join our team and help drive our next phase of growth.
The fine print (but way more exciting):
- We have a high bar for design, and care deeply about upholding and improving our UI and UX standards.
- This UK-based role is mostly remote with in-person team meetups a few times per year. Our headquarters are in Jersey, UK, and we have a distributed remote team of 70 members spanning the UK and the U.S.
- You'll be working with a small but growing design team, as well as product managers and engineers.
- We have a design system that primarily consists of a component library in Figma and Storybook, along with UX documentation and guidelines. We're continually looking for ways to improve how we manage and maintain it, and you will likely play a key role in shaping its evolution.
- Our values shape who we are and how we work. We're excited to meet candidates who share these principles and will bring these values to life in their work.
- We're looking for someone with a growth mindset-you enjoy solving problems, contributing to experiments, and getting things shipped sooner rather than later. You don't mind making mistakes because you learn from them.
- You'll have plenty of support from the team, but we also want to see you take ownership of your work. You'll need to be proactive to get stuff done.
About the Role
- Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to deliver impactful designs
- Manage end-to-end design projects independently, resolving dependencies and navigating complex requirements
- Deepen customer understanding through research and data analysis to inform better product decisions
- Define and scope projects with product management, supported by user research to validate solutions
- Create and deliver user flows, prototypes, and detailed UI/UX specifications for engineering handoff
- Conduct design QA to uphold quality standards and ensure accessibility
- Enhance visual standards, contribute to the design system, and maintain the component library
About You:
- 5+ years of design experience, with expertise in both UI and UX design
- Proven experience in a scale-up environment, with a strong track record of scaling and refining complex products
- Proficient in tools such as Figma/FigJam, Dovetail, Maze, and Notion
- Experienced in agile product development processes
- Highly empathetic, with a demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and understand users, stakeholders, and colleagues
- Trusted to make thoughtful decisions, take ownership of challenges, and address issues transparently while learning from them
- Strategic thinker with a product owner mindset, skilled at understanding scope and prioritizing decisions that maximize impact on the product and team
- Excellent communicator, capable of simplifying complex ideas through words, visuals, or other mediums
- Self-starter who independently tackles problems and thrives in a resource-constrained startup environment
- Based in the UK
