Job Description

Reporting to the IT Director - Operations & Service Management, this position will be responsible for developing and driving forward strategic and operational business needs, evolving business relations, managing budget and driving adoption and change initiatives within the UK business.

Working within the wider business relationship team you will serve as the primary non-operational link between the business the other elements of the IT operating model. You will develop a strong understanding of business units working closely with them to understand and anticipate their needs and identify opportunities for IT to improve business effectiveness and efficiency.

You will be playing a senior role in ensuring that the new IT operating model delivers effective IT solutions that support our business units and their delivery to clients.

Some travel to WSP offices and supplier locations in the UK will be required.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary link between the business units and the various IT pillars/functions.
  • Work closely with FLS services to ensure escalations, service performance, process compliance, are managed effectively in the UK.
  • Leadership and assistance during escalations and major incidents.
  • Facilitate strategic conversations and planning with key business stakeholders to ensure strategies are informed by both current and future state enterprise architecture.
  • Ensuring that business requirements are intercepted early and translated into clear IT demands. Building business cases that are fed into wider IT governance and approvals processes.
  • Working with Technical Leads within the IT pillars/functions to provide direction on the business technology future state and solutions required to deliver business outcomes.
  • Engage key business stakeholders and IT teams to build and evaluate initiative pipeline and IT roadmap and to set regional priorities.
  • Support the delivery of approved strategic initiatives and projects, including M&A integrations, in the UK. This includes sponsoring the projects within the PMO and supporting the project delivery team. This includes:
  • Ensuring the requirement are clearly understood and agreed with stakeholders.
  • Through agreed demand processes representing UK and securing the resources required to successfully deliver the initiative.
  • Ensuring that regional approval processes are adhered to (DOA).
  • Establishing any regional governance and reporting with business teams.
  • Throughout the lifecycle providing direction and representing IT on any wider project governance.
  • Assisting SBUs with IT input into client bids and proposals, assuring that IT commitments can be achieved.
  • Identify impacts of upcoming changes on business areas, working with business excellence and wider IT to develop and implement appropriate change management and communication plans.
  • Represent region and business on governance groups, steering committees and project boards.
  • Ensure the business is aware of emerging trends, practice and technologies in the market place and how they may contribute to business outcomes and strategies.
  • Ownership of IT elements of BCM plans including audit assurance.
  • Support of IT Budget Management & board reporting.

Qualifications

  • Broad IT knowledge with demonstratable experience across a range of IT functions including both project and service delivery.
  • Ability to use project management techniques to deliver technology solutions to solve business problems.
  • Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills across multiple levels and functions in the organisation.
  • Ability to build rapport, and credibility within the business as well as with leadership and functional teams.
  • Strong communication skills in writing, speaking, and presenting.
  • Understands the IT industry, e.g., emerging technologies and trends, industry standards and the vendor landscape.
