Description

Senior Copywriter

Company: VML

Location: Sea Containers, London

6 month Fixed-term contract

Who we are:

At VML, we are a beacon of innovation and growth in an ever-evolving world. Our heritage is built upon a century of combined expertise, where creativity meets technology, and diverse perspectives ignite inspiration. With the merger of VMLY&R and Wunderman Thompson, we have forged a new path as a growth partner that is part creative agency, part consultancy, and part technology powerhouse.

Our global family now encompasses over 30,000 employees across 150+ offices in 64 markets, each contributing to a culture that values connection, belonging, and the power of differences. Our expertise spans the entire customer journey, offering deep insights in communications, commerce, consultancy, CRM, CX, data, production, and technology. We deliver end-to-end solutions that result in revolutionary work.

Who you are:

You're the type who looks for opportunities to bring tone-of-voice to even the smallest bits of copy in a consumer journey that most people would overlook. While you're great at working as part of a team, you have a freestanding brain and you're not afraid to exercise thought leadership when taking briefs and presenting work.

Relevant Experience:

  • Proven experience working in a copywriter role for 8+ years.
  • Writing acumen that spans everything from a witty one liner on hard working OOH, to heavier lifting, longer copy in CRM and Web.
  • Experience adapting brand Tone of Voice across channel without missing a beat.
  • Some experience nurturing copywriting talent or knowledge of shaping a copy team.

Skills:

  • Don't see a website as a series of boxes to put words in, so much as a story where the reader gets to pick the ending.
  • Love investing time into crafting headlines.
  • Understand the importance of 'plain English' in places people are looking for straightforward information.
  • Understand how to convey the character of a brand platform into multiple formats, headlines, communications, CRM, owned channels and even navigation copy.
  • Have a natural disdain for anesthetic, meaningless copy that doesn't understand its reader.

Mindset:

  • Curious, optimistic, empathetic, and collaborative.
  • Embrace new opportunities.
  • Nonlinear thinker.
  • Be open to change.
  • Ability to work well using own initiative.
  • Excellent multi-tasker.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Team player.
  • A practitioner, maybe someone who wants to become a leader
  • Ability to keep calm under pressure.

Key Responsibilities and Challenges:

  • Experience working with design and art channels to deliver flawless end-to-end customer journeys.
  • Ability to create online experiences for mid and large sized organisations.
  • Confidence working in isolation, in partnership or with the wider team and client at any given moment throughout the process.
  • Excellent writing skills and a portfolio which demonstrates strong problem-solving ability in various phases of creative copywriting.
  • Ability to work gracefully and have a bias for action in a fast-paced, sometimes ambiguous environment.
  • Ability to correctly weight workloads during sprint planning sessions to ensure you scope your time and delivery accurately.
  • Worked within collaborative, cross-functional, fast-paced teams to deliver multiple, successful projects.
  • Positive and open attitude.
  • Great organisational skills, able to juggle and prioritise.
  • Support, drive and inspire the team around you towards success.
  • Provide copy oversight across team delivery.
  • Help younger crafters to improve and develop.

Need to have:

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Previous agency experience.
  • Digital, app and media experience.
  • Design Thinking expertise.

What's in it for you?
Tremendous growth opportunities in a new, ambitious and stimulating team enviroment.

Direct mentoring from the Customer Analytics Director to accelerate your career growth.
