Location: Brighton (you don't need to be in the office every day, travel to the office would be expected for key company and team events which are typically once a month)

Hours: Full time 37.5 per week

Salary: £45,000 pa depending on experience

The Human Development Practice

The Human Development practice at Itad, provides evaluation, learning and strategy services to a diverse range of clients, including bilateral governments such as FCDO, multinational agencies such as Gavi and foundations such as the LEGO Foundation. We oversee a dynamic and rapidly evolving portfolio focused around seven core areas of expertise:

• In Health, we focus on 1. global health security (GHS); 2. sexual and reproductive health & rights (SRHR); 3. health systems strengthening (HSS); 4. global healtharchitecture and strategy; and 5. climate and health.
• In Education, we focus on 1. Education Systems; 2. Girl's Education; 3. Early Childhood Development (ECD); and 4. Education in Emergencies (EiE).
• In addition, we have a small portfolio of water, sanitation and hygiene projects.

We also work in other health, education and WASH areas as opportunity arises, encouraging our team members to develop their own specialisms within the practice. Examples from our growing portfolio include:

• Education Systems: We provide MEL services to FCDO Nigeria, supporting the monitoring, evaluation, and research of their flagship education program. Our work focuses on key areas, including education governance, data systems, community support for learning, and emergency response.
• Early Childhood Development (ECD): We are evaluating the Van Leer Foundation's (VLF) 2024-2028 strategy, which focuses on empowering caregivers to support the growth and development of babies and toddlers globally.
• Learning through play: We are supporting the LEGO Foundation in designing and operationalizing their MEL system to create a systematic and structured approach for collecting, analysing, and synthesizing data and insights across their portfolio.
• Strategy: we have evaluated the Global Fund's strategy on several occasions, supported GAVI's strategy implementation through theories of change, and supported UNITAID and WHO in shaping their work.

The Role

We are recruiting for an experienced Consultant to join the team to work on projects across the human development portfolio with focus on global education work. They will contribute to the successful delivery and management of projects, build and own relationships with key client stakeholders, contribute to business development activities, share learning through knowledge products and external conferences and events, and be a part of maintaining our excellent reputation with our clients. We place emphasis on individual agency and encourage an entrepreneurial approach to creating your own portfolio of work in areas of particular interest, from active sales, to bid writing through to delivery.

Technical:

• Develop innovative solutions: Create and implement cutting-edge approaches and methodologies to improve the effectiveness and sustainability of education interventions.
• Build capacity: Conduct workshops, training sessions, and other capacity-building activities for project stakeholders, government officials, and local partners, enhancing their expertise in designing, implementing, and monitoring education interventions.
• Promote knowledge sharing: Facilitate knowledge exchange and learning opportunities to foster collaboration and amplify the collective impact within the global education community.

Partnership Development:

• Build strategic partnerships: Develop and sustain relationships with education donors, government agencies, NGOs, academic institutions, and other key stakeholders to leverage resources, expertise, and networks for project implementation and funding opportunities.
• Develop researcher networks: Establish and nurture networks of education researchers to contribute valuable expertise to Itad's education strategy.
• Champion equity and inclusion: Demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting equity, diversity, and inclusion in all aspects of international development work.
• Willingness to travel: Be prepared to travel internationally and operate effectively in complex and challenging environments as required.
• Deliver Technical Excellence: Provide high-quality technical expertise in the delivery of monitoring, evaluation, and learning (MEL) projects in the field of global education.

The core technical strengths of all our consultants are focused around four key areas:

• As achange agentyou can effectively analyse and interpret data to support evidence based discussions and use strong client facing skills to deliver this.
• As aproject manageryou will havedemonstratedyour ability to pro-actively manage clients whilst building trust, ensuring a quality focus throughout, supported by clear commercial project management skills.
• As atrusted advisoryou willhaveresearched and understood client challenges and offered solutions and alternates.

The Candidate

You will have a proven track record within education monitoring, evaluation and learning assignments and seen at least one significant project through the full lifecycle within the education space; with experience in health, WASH or climate desirable.
