The team
The Global Risk Operations team is a pivotal function with a comprehensive global remit. Our team is dedicated to supporting all ITV personnel in managing risks, ensuring duty of care, and safeguarding across our diverse and dynamic production environments.
The Global Risk Operations team is instrumental in maintaining a safe and secure workplace, enabling our staff to perform at their best. We provide expert guidance and implement robust risk management strategies to protect our people, uphold our values, and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations.
The role
We are currently looking for a Health & Safety Risk Advisor to support the Health & Safety and Duty of Care team in providing an appropriate safety and welfare function for the business which will deliver day to day advice, guidance and training on all health, safety and welfare matters.
Key Responsibilities
- Work independently in advising on health and safety matters while recognising the limits of one's knowledge.
- To assist the Head of Duty of Care with advising productions on general welfare queries.
- Communicate clearly and effectively at all levels of the organization, both verbally and in writing.
- Conduct effective meetings and accurately document minutes.
- Prepare comprehensive reports for formal Health & Safety meetings.
- Ensure appropriate follow-up on accidents and near misses within the designated area of responsibility.
- Demonstrate the personal skills needed to serve as a safety advisor for low-risk productions.
- Competently draft risk assessments and other safety documentation for assigned productions.
- Perform DSE assessments and routine Health & Safety inspections.
- Collaborate with different areas of the business to develop risk assessment documentation and recommend suitable corrective actions.
- Participate in routine site inspections alongside union representatives.
- Support the Health & Safety team with administrative tasks, including training coordination, contractor vetting, and updating the online guidance portal, Compass.
To have a degree of flexibility in being contacted out of standard office hours and have the ability to provide support in the event of an out of hours emergency. Some weekend work may be required depending on production filming requirements.
Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)
- Affiliate or Tech Member of IOSH having completed a relevant qualification (European Qualification Framework (EQF) Level 3 (Nebosh Certificate)
- Relevant and demonstrable experience within a Health & Safety or Production role.
- Proficient in IT and quick to adapt to new technologies with a strong understanding of Google suite
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to draft clear, concise, and grammatically accurate content.
- Skilled in managing large volumes of data to produce meaningful reports.
- Committed to delivering high-quality customer service and continuously seeking opportunities for improvement.
- Capable of working independently, taking initiative, and effectively prioritizing tasks.
- Experienced in providing support within a team environment.
- Able to meet tight and evolving deadlines with a flexible and proactive approach.
- Skilled in handling confidential matters with tact and diplomacy.
- Highly organized with the ability to multitask and set clear priorities.
- Adept at managing multiple stakeholders with diplomacy.
Other things we're looking for (key criteria)
- Experience within a Risk function would be desirable.
- Understanding of duty of care and safeguarding is desirable
- An understanding of the requirements of data collection and retention in relation to Health, Safety and Environmental legislation;
- Experience of developing/implementing reporting processes for H&S data
- A pragmatic and flexible problem-solver, capable of addressing complex issues while adapting to business needs.
- Understands business decision-making regarding acceptable inherent risks in content.
- Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
- Friendly, approachable, and enthusiastic, with a hands-on attitude.
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships.
- Works well under pressure and can operate independently when needed.
- Strong judgment in identifying when to escalate issues.
- Approaches problem-solving with flexibility, creativity, and composure.
