Regulatory Finance Manager

In this role, you will manage and deliver key aspects of our regulatory finance, including annual regulatory reporting (financial flows and long-term viability statements) and business planning/price controls.
What you'll do

The Regulatory Finance Manager is accountable for:

  • providing analysis and advice to the company leadership team for all areas of regulatory finance
  • contributing to the company's approach to regulatory price reviews, ensuring the outcomes secure a financeable and sustainable business in the medium term that are good for consumers and Wessex Water
  • effective engagement with the economic regulator, via formal consultation responses and other means, which positively influences future regulatory policy
  • ensuring ongoing compliance with our statutory and licence obligations regarding the economic regulator
  • contribute to setting expenditure targets for the business that keep the company near the efficiency frontier for the industry
  • preparation of regulatory finance for annual reporting
  • maintain an up-to-date WWSL regulatory financial model that allows an understanding of the interactions between the company's models, assesses current performance against final determination, replicates the Ofwat determination model for future price reviews and forecasts future financial performance
  • liaison with external stakeholders on issues related to economic regulation, including WaterUK and CCW, ensuring positive working relationships with colleagues at other companies and with other stakeholders.

What you'll need

To be successful you will have:

  • at least 5 years of proven experience within a regulated sector, including dealing with regulators and wider stakeholders
  • experience providing strong intellectual leadership on regulatory issues based on sound knowledge of relevant economic theory and commercial concepts
  • detailed understanding of techniques applied to economic regulation
  • degree-level qualification or equivalent experience with significant regulatory economics content
  • focus on a numerate technical discipline (economics, accountancy, finance, mathematics, engineering or similar)
  • excellent communication skills and the ability to take a complex topic and explain it in simple terms
  • highly numerate, strategic thinking, logical, analytical and problem-solving
  • self-motivated and able to plan own workload.
