General Dynamics in St Leonards-on-Sea currently provide avionic mission computing systems for a wide range of military fast jets, helicopters, and UAV's. Recent success has resulted in General Dynamics developing the next generation of Advanced High Performance, Safety Critical Mission Computer Systems to meet the needs of latest platforms in development by several aircraft manufacturers. These Mission Computing Systems provide the functionality that integrates aircraft systems, sensor systems and stores management systems with the information and control systems required by the aircrew to meet the demanding operational needs of these aircraft.

Job Description

As an experienced Project Manager, you will be accountable for developing and maintaining a detailed project plan for all elements of the project to enable delivery to time, budget and customer targets. Using project management techniques to identify risks early and lead a small cross-functional team to deliver customer requirements.

Typical day to day tasks include:

  • Establishing and developing key stakeholder relationships (Customer, User, Partner, Supplier) clearly communicating project performance and status
  • Providing strong leadership to the project teams to resolve matters relating to costs, work schedules, commercial and technical issues
  • Proactively and effectively manage all programme risk - with clear definition of risk description, cause, consequence (cost and schedule impacts) and mitigation plans.
  • Provision of regular performance updates and reports for the Projects to support internal and external reviews

Qualifications

To be considered for this Project Manager role, you should have a number of years experience working in a project environment with multiple stakeholders and a positive attitude towards problem-solving. You will also need:

  • Project management experience gained within large, complex, multiple stakeholder projects - defence or advanced electronics development projects would be preferred
  • Customer facing experience coupled with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Understanding of project management techniques, including cost accounting, progress monitoring, risk and opportunity management and performance reporting
  • Proactive management and strong schedule adherence
  • Programme Management qualification desirable (E.g. APMP, APQ, Prince2)

Additional Information

This role has a starting salary of between £43,200 and £57,500 plus our flexible benefits package.

We are open to this role being spent with time working from home and in the office (hybrid - typically 2 days working from home) on a weekly basis or fully in our office
