Mission -

Reporting to the Senior Programme Manager, will be accountable for PMO activities within the organisation plus include the delivery of continuous improvement projects/development projects as needed. The PMO element of the role aims to maximizing the efficiency and impact of Project/Programme Management teams within the Product Company (PC), with a particular focus on capability, processes, tools, reporting and project governance.

Main Responsibilities

PMO Duties:

  • Stakeholder Management: Interact and negotiate with senior management to align on core PMO activities such as governance, reporting, training, data analysis and process development.
  • Stakeholder Management: Liaise with the central Atlas Copco PMO team to gain alignment/deviations on core processes and procedures.
  • Resource Management: Undertake portfolio prioritisation including resource demand and allocation analysis with the support of the wider Project Management team.

Project Duties:

  • Plan: Ensure the team act as the single point of contact responsible for project schedule, cost, risks, and scope; generate a suitable Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) that enables level 0, 1, 2 and 3 plans to be developed; track progress and provide updates to the programme team and key stakeholders as required.
  • Budget: Ensure the team own the Projects budget, monitoring the expenditures and costs throughout the project.
  • Responsibility Matrix: Ensure the team generate a suitable responsibility matrix (RACI) for each project.

General Duties:

  • Reporting: Ensure project status, risks, opportunities, and issues into reliable, consistent, and regular reporting.
  • Team Management: Undertake regular 1-2-1's with direct reports and undertake quarterly performance management feedback as per the business processes.
  • Team Management: Leverage personal expertise as well as project leadership to coach and mentor project team members as needed.

Experience & Skills

Qualifications/Education/Certifications:

  • Have a recognised Project or Programme Management Qualification (e.g. APM PMQ, Prince2), or equivalent experience (Essential).
  • Educated to Degree level in a suitable Technical/Engineering/Science discipline (Essential).

Experience:

  • Have significant experience of managing complex technical programmes or projects spanning multiple phases/years to time, spec and cost (Essential).
  • Must have demonstrated experience of influencing and managing across global teams (Essential).
  • Previous line management or functional management or coaching experience (Essential).

Skills:

  • Must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels (Essential).
  • Must be able to analyse complex programme requirements and generate a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) as part of high level programme definition (Essential).
  • Experience of project planning tools (such as Microsoft Project), processes and methodologies (Essential).
  • Experience of RAID logs (Risk, Actions, Issues and Decisions) (Essential).
  • Able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver (Essential).
  • Displays clear leadership and willing to take ownership and control of a situation and bring people with them even though they may not functionally report to them (Essential).
  • Well organised, displaying clear, rational and analytical approach to problem solving and planning (Essential).
  • Remains calm under pressure and has the ability to find creative and pragmatic solutions to seemingly intractable problems (Essential).
