Practice Manager - Non-Clinical

We have an exciting opportunity for a friendly, supportive Practice Manager to join our leadership team at Midland Vets in Leyton, East London. As Practice Manager, you will help lead the support team alongside the two clinical directors who manage the practice and the clinical team.

Your New Role

You'll lead our dedicated team of vets, nurses, and support staff, ensuring smooth daily operations while maintaining high standards of client care and staff well-being. Your responsibilities will include preparing monthly payroll, managing holiday cover, overtime, company sick pay, and SSP payments, along with overseeing diary schedules and health and safety protocols. You'll also handle facility and equipment repairs, manage practice debt protocols, and monitor financial trends like turnover and expenditure. Additionally, you'll contribute to the annual pay review and budget process, conduct appraisals for non-clinical staff, and collaborate with the Operations team on practice events such as Pet Health Plans, career days, discounts, and client complaint coordination.

Midland Vets is a small animal first-opinion practice based in Leyton, East London. We provide a full range of veterinary services, focusing on high-quality pet care and client support. As a training practice, we offer extensive support to new staff, encouraging continuous education and professional development. Our team consists of five vets, most of whom work part-time with a flexible rota, supported by four qualified nurses, two care assistants, and four receptionists. We deliver personalised care, including surgery, wellness screenings, and specialist treatments in ophthalmology, soft tissue, and orthopaedic surgery.

What We're Looking For in You

We are seeking someone who can effectively analyse financial KPIs and address performance challenges, with a solid understanding of P&L. Strong interpersonal skills are essential for confidently communicating with staff, clients, and contractors. The ideal candidate will have the ability to motivate the team to achieve goals, along with excellent time management and the flexibility to adapt to the practice's needs.

Working Hours

This is a full-time position, consisting of 40 hours per week over 4 or 5 days. We are happy to discuss flexible working arrangements.
