The team

Our News team delivers high quality and trustworthy television and online coverage that regularly attracts audiences in excess of 3.5 million viewers. It's a fast moving environment with a huge variety of roles and challenges on offer. We operate in 11 main news production centres across England, Northern Ireland, Wales and the Channel Islands. We also have a Political Unit and a Weather centre based in Millbank, London. And finally, we produce a range of current affairs & factual programming out of ITV Wales, UTV and ITV Border.

The role

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced on-screen journalist to join the Content Hub to help ITV News teams across the country to make engaging and compelling evening news programmes which appeal to our diverse audience. You will be comfortable on-screen, a competent self shooter and video editor. You must feel able to tailor your reports for each Content Hub region. As well as your experience on screen, you'll need to be a confident planner and producer, someone who is able to take ownership of stories from the ideas stage through to broadcast. You'll have the ability to juggle multiple stories at once and have an abundance of ideas for news items that will work across all Content Hub regions.

We're increasing our efforts to be more inclusive and representative of the audience we serve. We are looking for someone with flair, who is bursting with ideas and who, along with the rest of the team, will uncover stories that appeal to our many black, asian and minority ethnic viewers across the country as well those with a disability.

If you have a passion for television news and the skills and experience to help us continue to offer award winning programmes to our audience, we'd love to hear from you.

Skills you'll need (minimum criteria)

  • Proven track record of delivering impactful, original, high-quality & distinctive journalism on television and online.
  • Proven technical ability (self shooting, editing, live reporting & digital) to give the story maximum impact as part of a package, live report, online article and social media posts.
  • Excellent understanding of new audiences, digital platforms and strategies
  • A strong knowledge of media law & compliance and the ability to exercise sound editorial judgement.
  • An understanding of the importance of diversity & inclusion in determining output.

Other things we're looking for (key criteria)

  • Commitment to a team and a company with the ability to work positively to tight deadlines in a pressurised environment.
  • The ability to demonstrate resilience & determination with a willingness to learn new skills.
  • Evidence of promoting diversity and inclusion internally and externally.
