Term -time only + 5 days
This post is an exciting opportunity to be part of a growing team committed to improving the lives and educational outcomes for looked after children in Newport. The Looked after Children Education (LACE) team sit within Children's Services, working closely with education colleagues and other agencies to improve the education experience and learning outcomes for all our looked after learners.
The successful candidate will have the skills to engage, support and empower young people to aspire and achieve their full potential. Under the supervision of the LACE Co-ordinator, you will work collaboratively with a wider 'team around the child' involving education, carers, social workers and other agencies. The key focus of the role will be direct work with our Looked After Learners who are at risk of disengagement from education, or who need support with transition between education placements.
You will have excellent literacy and numeracy skills; the ability to deal calmly with different situations as they arise and the skills to develop good relationships with learners, carers and a wide range of professionals.
