The Education Service is seeking to recruit a Grade 7 Community Focused Schools Manager who will work with the service, schools, and families to improve Family and Community Engagement.
This post holder will also provide direct support to the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to oversee the implementation of relevant WG grant funding.
We are seeking to recruit an individual to work with schools and settings in Newport to support them to engage with their communities to meet the needs of their learners and families and to benefit the wider community; to provide advice and support to school-based staff to implement the WG Community Focused School model; to support networks to share good practice in creating a whole school approach for community engagement.
Responsibilities include:
• Collaborate with the Assistant Head of Education for Engagement and Learning to create a community engagement plan.
• Act as a point of contact for staff engaged in Community Focused Schools practice.
• Support and advise school-based staff in mapping key stakeholders and identifying beneficial partnership working opportunities.
• Represent the LA in attendance at regional events and networking with a wide range of agencies and partners at local level, where required.
• Support the Assistant Head of Education in the monitoring, evaluation and review of work programmes, including gathering evidence of the impact of grant spending across all schools.
• Develop strategies for dealing with attendance issues, low attainment and well-being issues for disadvantaged pupils and monitor their impact, working closely with school-based Family Engagement Officers and Education Welfare Service staff, as appropriate.
We are seeking to appoint an individual who is educated to HND Level or equivalent and has experience of working with children, young people, families and a range of agencies. The successful post holder will be expected to undertake a wide variety of tasks including making visits to schools, providing support, guidance or signposting to further services; maintaining accurate records; and working as part of a busy team.
Possession of a current driver's licence is a necessary requirement for this post.
This position is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (1974) and is subject to an enhanced DBS check.
