We're offering an amazing opportunity to join our charity as a Licensing Compliance Advisor in our Licencing Compliance & Enforcement team. Your role, you will be providing the business with administration and internal customer service support, assisting all functional departments in achieving Canal & River Trust's aims to increase the number of people using the waterways and improve safety whilst protecting the heritage, environment, and integrity of our unique inland waterways network.
Licensing, Compliance, 6 Enforcement play a vital role in supporting customers achieve licence compliance, reporting and signposting of vulnerability and safeguarding concerns, and protecting c.£25m income derived from boat licensing.

Location
The role offers the opportunity and flexibility to predominantly work from home, with occasional time spent in a nearby Hub for collaborative working in either Birmingham, Newark, Hatton, Leeds, Burnley or Gloucester . (whichever is nearest to where you live).
Travel will occasionally be required within the region for site visits, events and meetings . It is therefore essential that you are able to effectively work from home, whilst also having the flexibility to be mobile when necessary.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
Key responsibilities:
- Review customer and licensing data generated from various systems and commence relevant enforcement and customer support processes.
- Ensure processes run correctly; generating and reviewing exception reports as
- Allocate process tasks to within Licensing, Compliance, and Enforcement
- Ensure processes are progressed effectively and in a timely manner, through monitoring and working with team members.
- Undertake analysis of cruising patterns and behaviour to determine compliance with licence and legislative requirements and inform future licensing offers and decisions.
- Assess sightings data to establish compliance with other licence and statutory
- Provide customer support, in writing and on the phone, including advice on boat licence requirements, relevant legislation, enforcement and welfare processes, and licence and online shop account queries.
- Support customers processing boat licence applications and making account changes over the phone, understanding and solving system issues.
- Support early identification of potential vulnerabilities, equalities issues, safeguarding concerns, and other factors that may require involvement from our welfare or safeguarding
- As required, provide data to support management reporting
- Raise purchase orders, create one-time vendors, and process invoices in line with defined processes and timescales.
- Ensure Billing processes are adhered to, and systems kept up to date.
- Identify and support customers whose direct debit applications have failed.
- Administer customer refunds, accurately calculating figures using account information.
- Displaying the Trust values and behaviours at all time.
About you:
Technical:
- Educated to A level standard or equivalent e.g. NVQ Level III Business Administration, advantageous.
- A confident communicator with excellent organisational and planning skills.
- Ability to work closely to various processes, with great attention to detail and awareness of legislative requirements.
- Ability to work with customers where a structured approach is required, often in difficult, complex, and sensitive circumstances. Experience dealing directly with customers or the public regarding complaint, conflict, or enforcement is advantageous.
- Experience of systems handling financial transactions, invoicing, and purchase orders.
- Computer literacy, including knowledge of Office 365 suite, particularly MS Excel, and use of a Customer Relationship Management systems.
- Knowledge of or experience in SAP functions and reports is desirable but not essential.
General:
- Ability to manage a high workload working predominantly from home, remaining focussed and meeting deadlines.
- Ability to work closely and co-operatively with others to identify and complete actions and tasks within processes.
- Willingness to comply with Canal & River Trust Health & Safety policy and defined standards, report incidents, accidents and near misses.
- Good knowledge of GDPR, Freedom of Information Act, Equality Act 2010 and how this impacts your work.
- Assess the risks and make adjustments to work methods where appropriate.
- Consider your own and others behaviour.
