We're hiring an Optimisation Insights Director to join our close-knit team, supporting us in driving through our next phase of growth, and working on a hybrid basis between home and one of our six regional offices in the UK.
Purpose of the Role
The key purpose of this role is to lead our Insights product and team, forming both data (quantitative insights) and research (qualitative insights) under one powerhouse practice. Optimisation Insights has seen exponential growth over the last two years, and maintaining the trajectory and growing the income generated by the team is a priority.
Job description
You will lead a team of Insights specialists that work as part of the Optimisation & UX team to offer end-to-end website optimisation across clients. Whilst you will be the senior escalation point for your team and products, you will have the support of the senior leadership team and other Directors, meaning you will have the freedom to make your mark on our department, but in a supportive environment.
As Optimisation Insights Director your focus will be to:
- Continue to develop our strategy to integrate our data and research methodologies to deliver rich, user-led insights
- Grow our Insights team's client revenue by working across current clients, bringing in new business and finding opportunities to work collaboratively with other channels across our Digital community and the wider dentsu network.
- Ensure that our Insights products and teams are delivering against client requirements and collaborating with the other teams in the Optimisation & UX channel, and wider Digital Experience and Digital communities.
- Lead and work with the two Senior Managers who act as team and day to day leads of the Data Insights and Research teams. Your role will be to make sure they are leading that team in a way that aligns with our objectives. You won't be directly responsible for training and personal development of individuals in the team, but supporting the two Senior Managers through their planning and roadmaps, and driving to ensure connection between continual insights product and solutions development, and connection with the day to day and developments plans for team members.
- Use your experience of Digital Marketing to develop products, processes and team capabilities that put Insights at the centre of DX and Digital communities. Such as using audience and website insights to inform our strategies and using statistics to accurately forecast performance.
- Build relationships with our technology partners, such as Google and Contentsquare, and work with them to grow our income and capabilities.
- Work with our with Product and Growth teams to continually research new and emerging methodologies and technologies, always considering how we can develop our skills and/or partnerships to push our technical capabilities further ahead.
- Represent the Insights team and showcase our capabilities across dentsu and within the wider industry, establishing and growing our reputation as market leaders in the channel.
- Senior escalation point for Insights team when required by clients or wider dentsu teams.
Candidate Profile
The successful candidate will need to make sure their team and product are providing value to clients and driving income growth year on year:
- Ability to manage leaders including supporting them with their leadership style to get the most out of our team.
- You need to have an expertise around data insights, and how it can be used to drive performance across Optimisation and UX activity, as well as wider digital marketing activity. This includes audience and website data analysis, A/B-testing statistics, combining different data sets to tell a story, and specialist data practices such as modelling techniques, use of BigQuery, MySQL etc.
- A secondary and benefit to the role would be a strong foundation of knowledge and understanding around Research and qualitative insights techniques, and approaches to combine quantitative and qualitative data and research sets to inform user-led strategies.
- Excellent communication skills, being able to communicate with senior stakeholders across clients, Optimisation & UX teams and wider UK Media teams.
- Track record of growing teams and revenues, or experienced in setting a product or team up effectively so we can grow income.

We prioritise people that have the right attitude and a hunger to learn and develop, however experience in any of the below disciplines might improve your chances of recruitment:
- Awareness of CRO, UX, Content, website development, SEO, Paid Search and other forms of digital marketing.
- Ability to analyse data and uncover insights and trends, and the capability to coach others how to do this.
- History of building relationships with external partners, such as tool providers or other agencies.
