We're seeking a talented Mid-Market P&C Underwriter to strengthen our team and contribute to the success and development of our branch portfolio, focusing not only on growth and profitability but also on delivering exceptional service to our customers. As a Mid-Market P&C Underwriter, you'll play a key role in shaping how we partner with our broker portfolios through responsive, flexible, and collaborative relationships. Combining technical expertise with trading skills, you'll be empowered to make informed decisions supported by data, insights, and mobile technology. Your focus will be on driving profitable growth across new business within key markets, contributing to our overall success.

What you'll be doing:

• Accurately underwrite business risks that will compliment AXA's aims and ambitions for long term sustainability.
• Build and maintain a sustainable panel of prospects.
• Liaise with brokers to identify all opportunities and market developments.
• Issue the correct and accurate documentation in line with current processes and procedures.

You'll work at least 60% of your week away from home, either at our office location in Ipswich, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll bring:

• Cert CII qualification is desirable.
• Exposure to the UK General Insurance market is essential, including existing trading relationships specifically across the markets.
• Strong trading capability - commercial awareness, negotiation skills, ability to build strong broker relationships.
• Pragmatic and confident decision maker with good numerical reasoning skills.
• Analytical skills with proven experience of account monitoring and action planning.
• Technical underwriting expertise.
• Sound knowledge of legislative and regulatory requirements for insurance.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
