Role Summary
The Brand & Communications Director role is responsible for developing and executing the Company's brand strategy and overseeing all communications to ensure consistency, clarity, and alignment with the Company's values and objectives. The role involves managing the brand identity, external and internal communications, alongside corporate affairs and public relations efforts to enhance the Company's image and build strong relationships with stakeholders. The listed nature of the organisation, together with the regulatory environment places special emphasis on the criticality of our external brand and communication to the market, and the governance around this. This role is critical for shaping how the Company is perceived by both internal and external audiences, ensuring a consistent and positive brand image across all channels of communication.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead and oversee brand strategy, public relations, corporate affairs, ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance), investor relations, content, tenders, media partnerships, corporate communications, and internal communications for the UK group; including PEXA, Smoove, Optima, Amity Law, and Legal Eye.
- Develop and manage the brand and communications team, ensuring continuous development and alignment with company goals.
- Create and execute comprehensive communication strategies to enhance brand positioning and reputation across all UK brands.
- Work closely with the Australian team to share insights, best practices, and align on global brand messaging and strategy.
- Collaborate with the wider marketing team to ensure alignment of communication efforts with broader marketing initiatives, campaigns, and business objectives.
- Act as the key spokesperson for corporate communications, managing public relations and crisis communications, and developing media relations to promote company narratives.
- Develop, implement and lead internal communication programmes to enhance employee engagement and support organisational change management, supporting the PX team on comms for change programmes.
- Oversee ESG and corporate responsibility programs, ensuring alignment with company values and stakeholder expectations.
Skills and Experience
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing or a related field. Master's degree or MBA desirable.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years' experience in brand and communications roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively.
- Market Knowledge: Proven B2B experience in the property market, with a strong track record in developing and delivering communications strategies that engage key audiences such as lenders and conveyancers.
- Brand Awareness: Demonstrable success in building and growing brand awareness across a house of brands, with measurable impact.
- Corporate Comms: Experience in corporate affairs; including managing political or regulatory communications and government relations.
- Internal Comms: Expertise in building internal communications programs to foster employee engagement and support organisational change initiatives.
- Advanced Copywriting & Storytelling: Exceptional ability to craft clear, engaging, and persuasive copy across multiple formats (press releases, thought leadership, speeches, and investor communications) with a strong understanding of tone, voice, and messaging for B2B audiences.
- Strategic Messaging: Expertise in developing and overseeing consistent messaging frameworks for a portfolio of brands, ensuring alignment with corporate goals, market positioning, and audience engagement.
- Content Leadership: Proven ability to guide the creation of high-impact, long-form content (white papers, case studies, tenders, industry reports) that supports business development and enhances brand authority in the legal and property sectors.
- Executive Communication: Skilled in writing for senior leadership; including board reports, crafting speeches, executive statements, and investor relations content that conveys complex ideas with clarity and precision.
- Change & Comms: Experience in change management, particularly within fast-paced or evolving industries.
