Who will you be working with?

Our Emerging Talent (ET) programmes are high-profile within HSBC and the effective support, development, and retention of all types of learners is important to the bank. Since the creation of the current Emerging Talent team in 2017, HSBC UK has run award-winning ET programmes across WPB and CMB. Our programmes have adapted and developed throughout this time, building strong relationships with key stakeholders, to ensure a holistic experience for both the Early Careers (EC) community and the business, whilst aligning to the Global Graduate framework and meeting apprenticeship standards.

The Role:

What you’ll be doing:

We are now seeking a new Emerging Talent (ET) Programme Specialist. You will support the management and execution of the end-to-end Graduate Development Programme within HSBC UK in line with the overall Emerging Talent strategy and Global Graduate Programme framework.  Working closely with the Programme Lead, other Programme Specialists and wider Emerging Talent team you will maintain our brand reputation and standards of excellence for our Graduate programme.

Key Accountabilities:

  • You will work closely with Placement Managers to ensure Graduates’ progress is in line with expectations. Individual responsibility for c.50 Graduates as their Programme Specialist.  This will involve regular touch points with Graduates through Check-Ins, Development Catch Ups & Exchanges
  • Undertake all programme and talent management deliverables for the role, including (but not limited to);
    • Liaise with the ET Programme Lead and other Programme Specialists to manage stakeholder expectations and understand business priorities and strategy.
    • Understand all ET programmes including Graduates, Degree Apprentices, Interns & Industrial Placements
    • Take responsibility for the coordination and execution of the annual placement rotation management process ensuring all placements meet the established placement standards (not limited to Graduates)
    • Planning and execution for all performance management processes in collaboration with Placement Managers as outlined by the ET Operations Lead (Graduates only)
    • Involvement in project management and implementation of post programme activities for Graduates
    • Work with professional bodies to ensure the proposed development solutions and qualifications are best in class (Graduates only)
    • Ownership of delivery of the professional qualification offering for Graduates, including planning and coordination to ensure timelines align with meeting the Annual Operation Plan (AOP)
  • Ensure accurate professional qualification, performance, talent, and placement data is collated, recorded, and monitored
  • Participate in the delivery of Onboarding and Induction activities as directed by the ET Events & Projects Manager. This will involve the delivery and facilitation of individual sessions. Your attendance at the in-person Induction week for your programme is mandatory and support for other programmes may be required
  • Approval and governance of HR, expenses and system access requests (HSBC only)
  • Always represent the Emerging Talent programme by building a network of contacts across the wider HSBC business

Skills & Experience:

What do I need to succeed in this role? 

Must Haves:  

  • Experience of working and managing multiple deliverables/projects over a cyclical working cycle is required - programme delivery or leading and delivering on a project
  • Passion for ensuring the continued development of Graduates in their programme journey and experience of coaching individuals at different stages of their career journey
  • Take personal responsibility for understanding and agreeing performance expectations to work with minimal supervision and guidance to develop the levels of capability and competence needed to be effective in the role
  • Ability to work at pace and manage competing priorities daily
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills; an ability to communicate with impact across multiple stakeholder groups
  • Experienced use of Microsoft office tools including Word and Excel as well as MS Teams

The base location for this role is Birmingham with a minimum of 60% in office expectation.  We embrace a hybrid approach to working by balancing customer, team, and individual needs.
