Full Stack Developer – Next.js and Node.js

55/Redefined is building an innovative SaaS platform focused on life and career transitions for individuals aged 50 and beyond. Our platform provides coaching and learning resources to support mid-life professionals in their personal and professional growth. We also have other areas of the business with B2B and B2C facing content which will require development and data flow to help support the other brands of the business.  

Role Overview 

We are seeking an experienced full stack developer to join our close-knit development team. You will play a crucial role in building and maintaining our SaaS platform and other smaller platforms within the company ecosystem, with a focus on Next.js, Node.js and database technologies deployed within AWS. 

Key Responsibilities 

• Develop and maintain UI and server-side logic using Next.js and Node.js 

• Manage object data layers with underlying Postgres databases 

• Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements 

• Work with devops to help manage deployments and infrastructure on AWS 

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to our development processes 

• Demonstrate new features and improvements to the wider business 

• Work with external vendors / contractors to support flexible development throughout the business. 

Experience 

We are looking for an experienced full stack developer with extensive expertise in Node.js, Next.js, and AWS cloud services. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex, scalable applications and possess the following experience: 

• Advanced Proficiency in Node.js and Next.js: Demonstrated ability to build and maintain robust server-side applications and dynamic, high-performance user interfaces using these technologies. 

• Cloud Services Expertise: In-depth knowledge of AWS services, including EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda and ECS for deploying and managing scalable applications. 

• API Design and Integration: Strong experience in designing and implementing RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs, ensuring seamless integration with front-end applications. 

• Database Management: Proficiency in managing and optimizing PostgreSQL databases, including schema design, query optimization, and performance tuning. 

• DevOps and CI/CD: Experience with DevOps practices and tools, such as GitLab and Terraform to automate deployment pipelines and ensure continuous integration and delivery. 

• AI and LLMs: any experience of LLM APIs, knowledge bases and processes to enhance any aspect of platform development and features. 

• Collaboration and Communication: Excellent collaboration skills to work effectively with front-end developers, designers, and other stakeholders to deliver cohesive and efficient solutions. 

• Problem-Solving and Innovation: Strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for innovation, with a focus on delivering high-quality, maintainable code.
