Job Description

As the Events Manager, you'll support the Senior Leadership and Events Communications Manager in delivering Heathrow's event framework that engages and inspires colleagues, connecting them to our vision and priorities. You'll lead and manage the year-round program of face-to-face events, overseeing their planning and execution. These signature events are interactive and memorable, bringing together colleagues from across the business to support Heathrow's strategy, allowing you to make a significant impact.

Responsibilities

  • Consulting with key stakeholders, use audience insights, and innovative solutions to craft the goals and agenda for the events. You'll turn this into an event brief and explore creative ways to deliver an engaging and impactful event.
  • Developing an event tracker of key activities from start to finish, with roles and responsibilities, and project manage tasks to completion.
  • Identifying suitable venues, designing the space and the end-to-end event journey to deliver and bring alive the agenda. This includes requirements for: health and safety; logistics, catering; travel; furniture; onsite materials; audio visual; and event set up.
  • Coordinating the biggest part of the event: the content - including videos, speaker presentations, slides, breakout sessions, onsite collateral and any special effects.
  • Coordinating a clear, consistent and compelling narrative, with a key call to arms.
  • Being responsible for delegate communication, speaker management, including rehearsals, and designing the event cascade materials.
  • Working with the Channels and Evaluation Manager, you will measure and report on the effectiveness of the event, taking key insights and learnings forward, and demonstrating the impact of internal communications.
  • Supporting the planning, creation, and execution of Heathrow's online events designed for a range of colleagues.
  • Ensuring that the Internal Communications Team supports Heathrow's vision of being an extraordinary airport, fit for the future, while building trust and pride amongst all staff.

Qualifications

  • Confident communicator, with event management experience, who embraces innovation, industry best proactive, change, spotting improvements, and helping others to do so.
  • Ability to work at times, in a changing environment with some level of ambiguity while able to self-manage and sometimes to tight timeframes, and under pressure.
  • Experience of working with internal clients, and gaining their trust through advising and influencing on comms best practice and solutions in a fast-paced change environment
  • Ability to challenge and push the thinking of others outside normal practices and be the trusted comms and engagement advisor.
  • Understanding and experience of creating comms and engagement metrics to ensure success of the plan and ability to drive change when these might not be working.
  • Diplomatic and experienced influencer who can confidently work with and across numerous teams, clients and senior stakeholders.
  • Confident managing upwards and working with senior stakeholders

Working Location

Our Hybrid working approach offers the opportunity for colleagues in some roles to work from home for an average of two days a week, providing the flexibility to work in an agile way whilst ensuring we deliver for the operational needs of Heathrow. Working arrangements vary from team to team and will be confirmed during the recruitment process. You'll need to be based in the UK and within a commutable distance to Heathrow.
