Energy Knowledge Paralegal 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

We have an exciting opportunity for a paralegal to join our Knowledge Team on a 12 month fixed-term contract to provide high quality knowledge support for our market-leading Energy team and our broader Energy and Utilities sector. We are open to considering applications from candidates wishing to be based in either our Bristol or London offices.

The Role

This role is to keep our Energy lawyers and Energy and Utilities sector team and clients up-to-date on legal and regulatory change.

The key responsibilities of this role will include the following:

  • Monitoring and communicating developments around Energy regulation in the UK and the EU, with particular emphasis on the UK Energy Act 2023 and the policies of the new Westminster government;
  • Taking the lead in producing client articles and internal updates;
  • Assisting in the preparation of materials for knowledge-based business development, including one-to-one client training and client seminars;
  • Facilitating know-how sharing within the team; and
  • Assisting with additional knowledge work and projects as required by members of the Knowledge Team, including the Director of Knowledge.

Required Technical Skills and Experience

  • Attention to detail and accuracy is critical.
  • Well-developed analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong IT skills, including Word, PowerPoint and other relevant tools.
  • Ability to work to deadlines, to manage a busy workload and to proactively report on progress.
  • Ability to research and analyse areas of law and regulation and to identify key commercial issues and legal practice points.
  • A strong interest in the detail of law and its application to practice is essential for this role.

Previous experience of the Energy sector is not essential and the successful candidate will be given support in getting up to speed with the knowledge in this area.

Our UK team operates from London, Bristol and Reading. Much of our practice is international in nature and we work closely with colleagues in Osborne Clarke locations around the world.
