Overview
Our Service provides support and treatment to young people under 18 in the Sheffield area who are experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. We also provide advice and information to family members and significant others who may be worried about or affected by a young person's substance misuse.
Responsibilities
As a Diversity and Engagement volunteer, you will play a key role within local communities raising awareness and promoting our services and building positive relationships with people who are from underrepresented communities. You will attend community events and forums with the team as well as working with partner agencies to empower and assist young people to access our support.
We are looking for someone who will deliver presentations and workshops to staff and volunteers on Equality Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) topics and update social media platforms with EDI campaigns and communications. The person will have the opportunity to attend our organisations monthly EDI forum, as well regularly updating the office's EDI board and create and distribute an EDI newsletter.
No two days will be the same. You'll have the chance to connect with a variety of agencies, and diverse communities, creating meaningful collaborations and driving positive change. This role is perfect for someone with a proactive mindset and a passion for championing equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Where: Sheffield city centre, at the office and operational sites in the local community.
When: We will work with you to be as flexible as possible, whether you can donate one day a week of your time or 3days+. The core activity of this role occurs during the day (9:00am - 5:00pm) and evenings (5:00pm-7:30pm). If you'd like to discuss this in more detail before you apply, please email Gemma.
Volunteer Expenses: Travel and lunch expenses will be reimbursed as per CGL's volunteer policy.
Key Activities:
- Support us to build positive relationships with diverse communities (BAME, LGBTQIA+ etc), individuals, families, and partner agencies to promote inclusivity and break down barriers for young people seeking support
- Attend team meetings/forums/events where appropriate
- Support in signposting and advocating for young people and families to access our support, and other services
- Support to deliver engaging presentations and workshops to staff and volunteers on key Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion topics
- Support with updating social media platforms to drive impactful campaigns, such as Black History Month, Pride, and other EDI-focused initiatives
- Attending monthly EDI forums
- Update our EDI notice board
- Create and distribute an EDI newsletter to highlight achievements, events, and learning opportunities
- Support to identify ways to remove barriers and find solutions to help engage diverse communities.
