Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Manager (10 Month FTC)

Osborne Clarke are looking to add to their team with an exciting new IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Manager opportunity in our Bristol office.

This role will involve leading and managing IT Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP) initiatives to ensure the continued protection of our IT services and data. You will be responsible for building & maturing capability within the firm in respect of our DR/BCP processes whilst overseeing a comprehensive test schedule over the contract period to mitigate any IT security risks.

This is a 10-month fixed-term contract offering hybrid working.

The role

The IT Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Manager will lead the strategic direction of DR/BCP initiatives, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment, and ensuring the successful execution of DR/BCP strategies in alignment with organisational goals.

Other key responsibilities include:

DR/BCP Embedding:Developing and implementing strategies to further embed DR/BCP processes into the IT organisation, ensuring all teams are trained and prepared.

Test Schedule Management:Creating, managing, and executing a detailed test schedule for DR/BCP, including regular drills and simulations.

Risk Assessment:Conducting risk assessments to identify potential threats and vulnerabilities, and developing mitigation plans.

Policy Development:Developing, updating, and maintaining DR/BCP policies and procedures in line with industry best practices.

Stakeholder Engagement:Collaborating with key stakeholders across the organisation to ensure alignment and support for DR/BCP initiatives.

Reporting:Providing regular updates and reports to senior management on the progress of the DR/BCP project and test schedule.

Continuous Improvement:Identifying opportunities for continuous improvement in DR/BCP processes and implementing changes as necessary.

We are looking for

    • Previous experience in IT disaster recovery and business continuity planning.
      • Proven experience in managing complex projects, preferably within an IT environment.
      • Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, systems, cloud and applications.
      • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels.
      • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
      • Relevant certifications such as CBCP (Certified Business Continuity Professional) or DRII (Disaster Recovery Institute International).
      • Good understanding of relevant regulations and standards related to disaster recovery and business continuity
      • Proficiency in DR and business continuity software and tools
      • Experience in reviewing existing SAAS agreements and SLA's
      • Experience in producing GAP analysis, summary findings & recommendations with regards to DR/BCP
      • Experience in defining a RACI for the BC/DR Plan
    • Experience in creating disaster recovery runbooks
