Director of Marketing Communications & Brand

After a long period of sustained growth, we are looking to significantly invest in our Marketing and Sales function which has led to the creation of a new role for a Director of Marketing Communications and Brand.

This will be a key and transformative role, supporting the firm's strategic objectives by developing a cohesive communications strategy using a range of existing and new channels.

What you'll do

  • Develop and execute a cohesive, market leading, and differentiating brand and communications strategy that supports the firm's reputation and strategic objectives
  • Oversee the execution of this strategy for both internal and external communications through range of existing (and new) channels, harnessing talent to deliver innovative projects on time and within budget
  • Ensure a holistic and integrated approach to communications that maximises the impact of efforts across all areas of the firm including employer brand/recruitment/internal engagement
  • Ensure the firm has an impactful, market leading brand experience and corporate identity to ensure it remains distinctive in the market and translates well across digital media and other platforms
  • Be responsible for the firm's social media policy and ensure that content is innovative, differentiating, analytical and makes full and appropriate use of all channels; contributing to the overarching firm-wide communication objectives. Develop a governance structure to ensure content is appropriate and protects or promotes the firm brand and reputation
  • Oversee website development so it effectively represents OC's firm strategy, brand values, and maximises user experience/engagement
  • Own and deliver on priority projects ensuring the impact and success of the communications aspects are measured and reflected on for value of the investment of time/budget/resource
  • Lead on embedding complete alignment with the Director of Business Development to lead a combined Sales and Marketing team that delivers on one overarching strategy
  • Be a key advisor to senior management on internal communication to enhance engagement with firm strategy and future vision
  • Maintain strong relationships with relevant key opinion formers within legal sector
  • Act within the firm crisis communications team and advise strategically on internal and external responses to ensure all communications are well-managed and protect the firm's brand and reputation
  • Motivate and inspire the brand and communications team to deliver the strategy and services in way that generates a reputation for it being a respected and high performing team sought out for advice

What we're looking for

  • Proven track record of implementing a cohesive communications strategy in a senior communications role ideally in a legal/professional services environment
  • Significant people management experience - ability to lead/direct and motivate a variety of professionals in the delivery of various corporate communication projects
  • Significant project management experience with a proven track record of delivering effective change
  • Experience of advising and influencing at board level
  • Significant strategic media relations and internal comms experience
  • Experience and knowledge of events and campaigns
  • Ability to analyse complex business challenges and formulate communications solutions
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, able to motivate and interact with people at all levels
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
