DevOps Engineer

What is the opportunity?

This is fantastic opportunity to join our DevOps Centre of Excellence (DCOE) team! You will be developing the next generation of automated processes and pipelines that our development teams will use to build, test and deploy their applications. You will play a key part in helping us define platform tooling, understanding what development teams need and building key pieces of our developer platform.

In this role, you will:

  • Work with the DevOps COE to deliver key technical solutions to the bank in a way that is easily consumable by our development teams
  • Understand Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles and how they can be applied to improve quality and delivery times for our software team
  • Apply this understanding to continually enhancing the DevOps COE IaC components for our services.
  • Take best in practice guidelines and help development teams uplift their processes and move to newer solutions that the DCOE is delivering

What will make you stand out?

You have 5 years experience in either a software development or an operational facing role and are well versed in DevOps tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and cloud providers such as AWS / Azure / GCP. You have a good understanding of at least one application development language (Java, Python, GoLang, C# etc) and the corresponding test framework support.

Experience with any of the following will help you to stand out but is not necessary in order to apply for this role;

  • Atlassian tool stack - Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket
  • Relevant certifications
  • Good presentation skills and open to the opportunity to presenting external conferences

More about the team

The DevOps Center of Excellence (DevOps COE) is delivering automated processes and tooling to streamline how BOI delivers software. We have already deployed key systems to facilitate this, and lead by example by ensuring our own tools and services are delivered using fully automated pipelines. We have built the key foundational pieces and are now undertaking significant development to build an internal development platform for bank. During 2024 we expect to significantly grow the workloads that we support.

This is a hybrid role and can be done anywhere in the Republic of Ireland with the primary office location as Dublin. Travel will be required for in-person collaboration - exact frequency to be agreed with manager.
