Job Description

Monumental Television are hiring a scripted Development Producer. This is an exciting opportunity to join our TV drama development team, and work across a number of exciting and diverse projects on our TV development slate.

The Development Producer will report to the Head of Development and Head of Television, and work on projects under the guidance and instruction of the Executive Producers. We are seeking candidates with previous development experience, who are confident in taking the lead in driving and delivering projects to the highest possible standard.

This is a fixed term 9-month contract with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

• To lead on and drive specific projects on Monumental Television's development slate, delivering scripts and pitches to the highest possible standard.

• To independently run storylining sessions as required.

• To provide support to the EPs on projects across the slate, as needed: eg through research, shaping treatments and developing written and verbal pitches.

• As part of the Development team, to source and read books and other material with a view to optioning, writing reports as needed and responding to agented scripts. • To generate new ideas to brief from a variety of sources, finding supporting material as required.

• To seek new material and to drive the process of identifying suitable writers and attaching them to new projects.

• To nurture key writer relationships with a view to developing innovative new projects for Monumental Television's slate.

• To take steps to identify new writing talent. To proactively identify emerging talent, including writers, directors, performers, comedians and film makers. Attending the theatre, film screenings etc.

• To proactively plan ahead for production and generate project-specific lists for possible directors and cast, as well as creating writing schedules.

• To attend pitch meetings with broadcasters and provide assistance in preparation for these meetings.

• To maintain a keen awareness of the commissioning landscape.

• To attend and contribute to weekly Development Meetings, and maintain regular communication with key company executives.

• To liaise with the Finance and BA teams regarding deals and invoices for existing and new projects, and to work alongside them to create development budgets for potential projects.

Skills Required:

• Previous experience in developing projects at a senior level at a TV drama production company at either Development Executive or Story Producer level.

• Confidence and experience in proactively developing and driving projects autonomously and to the highest possible standard.

• Confidence in driving forward multiple projects at varying stages of development. • Excellent personal and communication skills.

• Sound understanding of the broadcasting industry and international TV & Film landscape. • Excellent talent, agent and commissioner relationships.

• Familiarity with Business Affairs.

• Ability to work co-operatively with others as part of a team and build and maintain effective working relationships with the whole range of colleagues.

• An awareness and interest in promoting diversity in all aspects of our projects and productions.]]>
