Defence Sector Senior Manager
UK
Galliford Try/Morrison Construction work predominantly in the public sector with particular emphasis on Education, Healthcare, Custodial and Defence sectors.
The Defence Sector Team (DST) are responsible for managing frameworks and relationships related to opportunities within the Defence Sector, either directly with the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) or with Defence Contractors working on the Defence Estate.
The DST provides technical and procedural expertise to GT business units through opportunity identification, tendering, pre-construction, implementation and handover.
Additional specialist services provided by the DST includes security vetting and asset protection of Protectively Marked Information (PMI).
What you will be doing:
The DST currently identifies and supports projects across the UK Defence Estate to a value of around £150m per annum.
Defence spending is predicted to increase significantly over the coming decade to meet NATO commitments and newly identified threats. Galliford Try intend to maintain our strong position within the sector and will therefore expect to increase our sector turnover to meet the increase in opportunities.
The Senior Defence Sector Manager is an integral part of the DST whose role is to:
- Offer guidance and expertise in the sector requirements,
- Ensure compliance and consistency across the individual business units and customer teams,
- Provide support, training and guidance in security management and
- Develop further opportunities through adjacent markets in the sector.
The Senior Defence Sector Manager reports to the Defence Director who in turn reports to the Head of Integrated Solutions.
The key activities of the Senior Defence Sector Manager include:
Framework Management
- Liaison with GT CCS champion
- Prepare framework reports
- Monitor framework KPI performance
- Pipeline Management
Relationship Management
- Client
- Technical Service Providers
- Supply Chain
- Business Units
Pre-Construction
- Support Business Unit Pre-Construction Teams
- Provide Technical/Procedural Guidance
- Guide on client expectations
Construction
- Provide ongoing Technical/Procedural Guidance
- Ensure consistency of approach (GT/Client)
- Prepare Monthly Progress Updates
- Attend Client Progress Meetings where appropriate
General
- Deliver training through the Defence Sector Guidance
- Maintain the technical library (JSP/DE Specs/ etc)
- Integrate and share knowledge across other sectors
- Ensure inclusion and delivery of HMG policies
About You:
- Experience of delivering complex projects on operational military establishments
- A strong understanding of Defence related policies/procedures
- An understanding of the culture within the armed forces
- Ability to form strong relationships with customers, clients, business units and sector teams
- Ability to work within strict constraints and processes
- Security Clearance (SC)
- Construction Management experience in the Defence sector
