Job overview:

We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Data Scientist to join our Commercial team. You'll be building end to end data science solutions to solve some of AXA Commercial's toughest problems and deliver significant business value. It's a really exciting time to join as you'll leverage our cloud-based data lake, design our advanced machine learning and AI models and influence the business in respect of its understanding and use of data.

Key responsibilities:

• Develop data science solutions to resolve business challenges.
• Contribute to the analytics hopper, helping keep it updated and refreshed with new use cases.
• Identify opportunities or business problems where analytics can be solved with data science.
• Be a point of contact for data science projects, including meetings with stakeholders.
• Sell the vision of advanced analytics and data-based decision making to wider stakeholders, managing engagement with both technical and non-technical teams.
• Keep up to speed with latest trends in the market and ensure AXA Commercial Data Science team are leading the way.
• Help develop, roll out and drive data science strategy and standards across team.
• Support and mentor junior members of the team.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events. We're also happy to consider flexible working arrangements, which you can discuss with Talent Acquisition.

Your skills & experience:

• Commercial experience in data science, machine learning or applied statistics, with excellent software engineering skills.
• Advanced Python capability, with experience building robust, production ready solutions.
• Hands on experience working with Databricks and the Azure ecosystem; experience using Power BI is desirable.
• Proven experience developing and deploying machine learning models using modern Python frameworks and libraries.
• Experience with LLMs and Generative AI, including practical implementation in real business use cases.
• Applied experience with MLOps practices and tools, such as MLflow, to take models from experimentation into production.
• Ability to communicate complex technical findings clearly to non-technical audiences and senior stakeholders.
• Demonstrated track record of delivering AI solutions that drive measurable business impact.
