The role
The Data Migration Lead is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the migration of data from legacy systems to new platforms, ensuring accuracy, integrity, and completeness of the data throughout the process. This role requires expertise in data analysis, mapping, transformation, and cleansing, along with strong technical skills and experience with various Azure ETL tools (Databricks, ADF, SQL etc). The ideal candidate will work closely with stakeholders, developers, and business units to ensure that data migration processes are executed efficiently and within project timelines.
A substantial focus of the role will be to support the data preparation and migration aspects of the ERP transformation project.

Location
You will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working and collaborative meetings.
Relevant hubs include: Leeds, Liverpool, Burnley, Newark, Birmingham, Milton Keynes, Gloucester, London.

Key accountabilities:
- Data Migration Planning - Develop and execute data migration strategies and plans in collaboration with the project team. This will include assessing and analyse existing data structures, formats, and volumes in legacy systems to define migration requirements.
- Mapping data between old and new system; Collaborating with business and technical teams to understand data structures in both the source and destination systems.
- Data Extraction, Transformation, and Loading (ETL) - Perform data extraction from legacy systems, ensuring data integrity and completeness.
- Data Cleansing & Validation - Analyse data quality issues and design data cleansing procedures to resolve inconsistencies, duplicates, and incomplete records.
- Documentation & Reporting - Document the data migration process, including migration scripts, transformation rules, and validation reports.
- Collaboration - Work closely with data owners, developers, and IT teams to ensure a smooth data migration process.
About you
- Educational Background: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Management, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in data migration, ETL development, or data engineering.
- Proven experience with data migration projects involving large, complex datasets across multiple systems, ERP experience preferable
- Strong technical skills, with the ability to write complex queries for data extraction and validation.
- Experience with ETL tools such as Databricks, Talend, Informatica, SSIS or similar.
- Experience with database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL) and cloud-based databases (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure SQL).
- Technical Skills:
- Solid understanding of data structures, data formats, and database systems.
- Proficient in data mapping, transformation, and cleansing techniques.
- Familiarity with data migration in ERP, CRM, or other enterprise applications.
- Experience with scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.) is a plus.
- Knowledge of data governance and data security principles.
- Soft Skills:
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain high standards of data accuracy.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
