Compliance Manager

What is the opportunity?

This is an exciting opportunity to be responsible for ensuring that Collections and Recoveries operate within UK Regulation and Group and Retail UK policies, designed to deliver good customer outcomes whilst also mitigating commercial, conduct and operational risk to the Group. This will include management and providing evidence of adherence to the Training & Competency framework, as well as managing departmental business continuity.

In this role you will:

  • Point of expertise within UK Collections & Recoveries to mitigate risk and exposure and to ensure effective resolution of issues
  • Ownership, management and development of Training and Competence Scheme across UK Collections & Recoveries
  • Management of staff, as required, to provide sufficient oversight of compliance to policy and regulation.
  • Drive a culture of Risk Management across the Department, which ensures staff recognize & consider risk at all points of the customer journey.
  • Participation and sign-off for strategic and operational projects. To provide knowledge and guidance to ensure successful implementation of projects/changes
  • Act as point of contact for internal and external regulatory visits. Manage and facilitate scope of review(s), site access and requirements.

What will make you stand out?

  • Demonstrable understanding of UK Collections and Recoveries industry, including a working knowledge of industry legislation/regulation.
  • Knowledge of the Group Risk Management Framework, including working within a compliance/risk role for at least 1 year.
  • Evidence of delivering results within a demanding environment whilst handling conflicting priorities.
  • Ability to identify creative solutions to complex business problems. Along with proven team leadership and people management capabilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Is comfortable and confident when engaging with peers and management at all levels.
  • Keen eye for detail and an investigative and enquiring mind with the ability to produce and analyse information effectively.

The UK Operations business unit is a key enabler of this strategy and is responsible for all personal and business customer/account servicing, debt management, customer relationships (vulnerable customers, bereavements and complaints), operational resilience, IT and information security and supplier management & governance.

Collections and Recoveries is a high profile, collaborative team, within UK Operations, responsible for supporting customers experiencing financial difficulty. Our key focus is to ensure fair outcomes for our customers and maintain strong positive relationships with them whilst balancing the recovery of debt.
