Are you ready to navigate the intricate landscape of commercial management in the evolving world of Financial Services(FS). We're seeking an individual to join our team and take charge of shaping the commercial success of our engagements.

As a pivotal member of the team, you will be instrumental in developing, negotiating, documenting, and managing pricing and commercial terms. The role holder will initially work on UK FS Consulting service line commercial deals, though in time the intention is to provide this service across all FS Service Lines and may be required to support UK FS leadership and other priorities on an exception basis.

The opportunity

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, and working alongside bid and client account leadership teams, you will play a key role in supporting the Consulting business in the provision of services to clients, major bids, technology asset exploitation, and commercial arrangements with other EY entities and third parties.

Ideally, the role will be based out of London, but we are open to negotiation on alternative UK locations. There may be a requirement to work flexible hours (including weekends and public holidays by exception) in order to accommodate working with different time-zones/cultures and/or client deadlines.

Your key responsibilities

  • Support negotiation, management, and documentation of complex commercial deals to maximise sales with optimal revenue and margin.
  • Analyse and synthesize costing & pricing models for pursuits, rate cards and discount algorithms.
  • Develop and optimize innovative business models and commercialize technology assets.
  • Review and refine large/complex costing, pricing and rate card Excel models produced by account teams.
  • Support and enable governance of leadership decision making.
  • Proactively manage commercial aspects of deal shaping to maximize revenue and mitigate risks.
  • Implement fair fee-sharing arrangements and coordinate commercial terms with other EY entities.
  • Support commercial management of interactions with third parties.
  • Collaborate with teams across EY's global network (including legal tax and other specialist teams) to bring the right skills to bear in commercial shaping and implementation.
  • Assist in building out our Commercial Management proposition across all UKFS Service Lines.
  • Drive continuous improvement and sustainability in commercial operations, stay updated on EY policies, and promote a culture of self-improvement.
  • Innovate across our commercial management processes, developing new tools to improve the quality of our deal reviews including AI, automation and analytics
  • Provide deal tracking and analysis reporting.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to more junior members of the commercial team.

Skills and attributes for success
You'll combine excellent financial & business analysis capabilities with a strong commercial acumen and a desire to drive continuous improvement in UK FS Consulting's commercial operations. You'll also be comfortable providing support to the UK FS Consulting partner community and be able to develop and maintain a professional network with commercial, pricing, legal and tax specialists across EY's global community to share solutions and best practice.

To qualify for the role you must have some or all of the following

  • Strong experience in the shaping and execution of commercial agreements and the interpretation and negotiation of contract T&Cs.
  • Strong analytical and numeracy skills and an exceptional ability to solve complex commercial/business problems and produce answers with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail even under extreme time pressure.
  • Strong ability to manage a diverse constituency of stakeholders.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills: able to communicate complex concepts, data, business intelligence and analysis clearly simply and concisely both in writing and orally.
  • Familiarity with, and skills in using, the standard tools, algorithms and data of managerial economics, financial analysis and global macroeconomics.
  • Ability to gather, read, understand, and summarise large amounts of complex data and business intelligence and to transform it into concise actionable data-driven recommendations.
  • Strong ability to balance multiple conflicting priorities taking into due consideration importance, risk and level of urgency.
  • Excellent IT skills at advanced power-user level across the entire Microsoft 365 suite particularly Excel (including Pivot Tables, Power Pivot, Power Query, macros and VBA) and PowerBI.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Insight and experience in commercial pricing models and negotiation of Technology led consulting contracts.
  • Insight and experience in commercial pricing models for large scale managed services / operate contracts, onshore and offshore.
  • Strong ability to understand and apply high-level policies and strategic plans in everyday activities.
  • Strong ability to manage a diverse constituency of stakeholders including skill and confidence to deliver challenging messages authoritatively but diplomatically.
  • Extensive knowledge and experience of working in a large consulting / Big4 environment and associated policies, processes and systems, accounting standards and relevant law and regulation specifically including data privacy and transfer pricing.
