We are excited to offer a full-time opportunity for an Actuarial Analyst to join our highly respected Actuarial team at AXA UK. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting the technical aspects of the Commercial Motor insurance line, focusing on reserving, capital modelling, and performance monitoring related to insurance risk. As an integral member of the team, you will have the chance to collaborate with a diverse range of business areas, including Pricing, Claims & Underwriting, Capital Modelling, Risk Management, and Business Finance. This exposure will enable you to develop a comprehensive understanding of the insurance landscape and build valuable cross-functional relationships.

Key responsibilities:

• Prepare, validate, and reconcile exposure and claims data to ensure accuracy for analysis and modelling purposes.
• Analyse data to identify trends and patterns that can influence strategic decision-making for the business line.
• Support the evaluation of claims reserves for the Commercial Motor segment through detailed actuarial analysis.
• Automate routine monitoring processes to focus on high-value investigations, new methodologies, and assumption adjustments.
• Assess how claims, pricing, underwriting, and market trends within AXA and the wider UK insurance sector impact performance and claims development.
• Use your analytical skills to propose insights and strategies that enhance the growth and efficiency of the Commercial Motor business.
• Contribute to the estimation of capital requirements related to claims risks, supporting the internal capital model.
• Take responsibility for delivering work to a high standard and foster strong relationships with internal teams and external partners.

Work arrangements:

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means attending the office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

Your skills & experience:

• Strong numerical and mathematical abilities, with a minimum of a 2.1 degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, physics, or a related numerate discipline.
• Progressing well through the Core Technical actuarial exams, if pursuing an actuarial qualification.
• Previous experience in general insurance actuarial work is essential.
• Familiar with modelling techniques and analytical tools such as R, Python, SAS, SQL, VBA, or similar, to support analysis and decision-making.
• Proven problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to tackling complex challenges.
• Effective communicator, capable of building networks within AXA and explaining actuarial concepts to non-specialists.
• Demonstrates a strong desire to learn, develop new skills, and grow professionally.
• Skilled in planning, prioritising tasks, and paying close attention to detail to ensure quality work.

As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
