Business Development Manager

As Business Development Manager in our Glasgow branch, you'll build meaningful relationships with a designated panel of key brokers. You'll take ownership for generating profitable business. You'll develop and maintain a pipeline of new business opportunities. You'll plan, forecast and set operational targets, helping us to achieve AXA Commercial's strategic development plan.

At AXA we work smart, empowering our people to balance their time between home and the office in a way that works best for them, their team and our customers. You'll work at least two days a week (40%) away from home, moving to three days a week (60%) in the future. Away from home means either attendance at our Glasgow office, visiting clients or attending industry events.

What you'll be doing:

• Proactively develop strong relationships with a designated panel of brokers, taking full ownership for the generation of profitable business.
• Build, manage and maintain meaningful relationships with all internal and external stakeholders, including all key customers and networks to deliver strategy and increase business opportunities.
• Prepare, design, implement and review development plans.
• Proactively develop a robust pipeline of appropriate new business opportunities and ensure that long-term pipeline is realised by ensuring broker and client engagement.
• Understand in its entirety and communicate internally within AXA, the nature of the brokers' business, the marketplace and the extent and potential of the relationship.
• Plan, forecast and set the operational targets (including the budget and the financial model) to achieve the strategic development plan.
• Review progress of initiatives against plan and take remedial action as appropriate.
• Prospect potential new opportunities and markets. Identify new deals, assess feasibility and project manage the implementation of new deals.

What you'll bring:

• Business development experience within Scotland's commercial insurance market.
• Awareness of underwriting and risk management principles.
• Networking and relationship building skills.
• Strong product knowledge.
• Mid-market knowledge and generation experience.
• Ability to develop reciprocal relationships with brokers.
• Awareness of profitability of business within the broker channel.
As a precondition of employment for this role, you must be eligible and authorised to work in the United Kingdom.

This position has been defined as an Insurance Distribution Directive (IDD) role under the IDD regime which means that in addition to pre-employment screening checks, the successful candidate will be subject to background screening every 4 years with an annual declaration in interim years.
