The Anderton Boat Lift is a thriving visitor attraction , and we want to ensure that all our visitors have a fantastic welcome and a memorable visit.
We have exciting activities and events all year round and are looking now to recruit people with a strong customer service focus, a welcoming approach, and the flexibility to work on our welcome desk, servicing customers in our on-site shop and in our café, to ensure that every visitor has a memorable experience. Previous experience working in a café is not essential as training will be provided but would be a bonus.
As a Casual Attraction Assistant, you will be working predominantly in our visitor centre offering a wonderful warm welcome to visitors from all over the world. Your focus is to make sure that every visit is memorable. The role is incredibly diverse and may include welcoming tour groups, selling popular merchandise, assisting with events and activities, working at our café, doing some light cleaning, directing families around the site, selling ice cream, engaging with boaters, assisting with demonstrations, and working very closely with volunteers.

Knowledge, Skills/Qualifications & Experience
If you care about ensuring a memorable visitor experience, we'd love to hear from you. As a Casual Attraction Assistant, were looking for people to work both regularly across the week, and as needed to support visitor events. You will need to work some weekends/bank holidays. Full training & uniforms will be provided.
Responsibilities of the role will include:
- Provide a warm welcome and a positive customer experience.
- Selling retail items or supporting an activity at an event, ensuring every visitor feels welcomed and is keen to return.
- Ensure that customer excellence is a priority at all times - being approachable and helpfulin responding quickly to questions and dealing with enquiries, particularly when on the welcome desk, or by phone/email.
- Promotion and delivery of special events.
- Flexible approach to the rota to work across departments involving retail and welcome desk, as well as our cafe.
- Ensure retail stock is kept up to date, replaced, recorded, and help to prepare any stocktaking counts.
- Support the team with general administrative duties that arise throughout the day such as distributing post, receiving, and recording general deliveries.

You are able to work occasionally through the week, but understand that the weekends, bank holidays and school holiday periods are when you are most likely to work.
Skills & Experiences:
- You may have some relevant experience in a similar customer facing environment (e.g. retail, hospitality), however more importantly, you can demonstrate you understand what a great customer experience is
- Basic IT skills - using Microsoft Office & Internet, and willing to learn our systems
- Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills - courteous and helpful
- Ability to work well under pressure during busy periods and thrive on a busy working environment
- Attention to detail
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage workload
