Assistant Operations Manager - Goodwood
£30,000 per annum (basic)
Goodwood Event Catering (GEC) is a profit share partnership between the Goodwood Estate and Levy. The success of GEC comes from the in-depth understanding of the Goodwood dynamic and the simple love of celebrated food and drink experiences and putting our partners and guests first. The GEC is responsible for the delivery of all motorsport events (Members Meeting, Festival of Speed and Goodwood Revival), horse racing meetings (11 day race meets, 4 night race meets and 5 days of racing at the Qatar Goodwood Festival).

The Role
- To support the Operations Manager to plan, develop and deliver all Motorsport events.
- Key focus will be on the delivery of providing the services of hospitality and retail standards.

More about the role
Collaboration - Work in collaboration with all department to agree requirements and timelines.
Structured Approach - ensure that all activities are delivered in line with the agreed measurable outcomes, Own and keep updated the lessons learned process
External landscape - keep up to date with market trends which may impact the operation and make suggestions to evolve / keep ahead of 'the curve'.
Ownership of the day-to-day delivery of consistent and exceptional product quality and service standards to achieve and ideally exceed department targets and grow our reputation for celebrated customer experiences
Readiness to trade - Oversee and ensure that all services within remit are ready for operation at specific time and to the agreed standard.
Supplier relations - Overseeing and coordinating with external suppliers, managing the entire process from initial quotation and ordering to event execution, while maintaining strong supplier relationships
Financial - Work alongside the finance team to ensure all POs are raised within the agreed timeline. That accurate billing is completed in a timely manner, and quotes / orders are within budgets.
Consistency - Work with the Operations Manager to develop robust operations plans that ensures that food quality, presentation, staffing standards and operational standards are maintained according.
Communications - Directly liaise with the Motorsports client representatives, GRRC, Goodwood bespoke membership teams, internal Hospitality and Partnership Management teams as well as your Team Managers to ensure that communication and expectations are clear. Use structured, regular and consistent meetings as a key tool.
Guest Focus - Champion the guest focused culture, continually sharing and acting on client and customer feedback, understanding the customer journey.
Health + Safety - Lead the H+S culture and compliance across the venue. Monitor and maintain health and safety policy, processes and culture.
People:
Culture - Support the Operations Manager to maintain a high level of team energy and engagement, focused on great food and hospitality
Communications - ensure effective team communication flows (in all directions) throughout the venue.
Reward and Recognise - Recognise and celebrate success.
Cost Management - Be in control of all operating costs in line with set targets
The Ideal Candidate
The role requires someone with:
- Operational experience in a similar environment (Green field and major events)
- Passionate for food and delivering a world class service- a natural flare for hospitality
- Computer literate
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Ability to work to strict pressured deadlines
- Self-motivated able to use own initiative and ability to adapt to a changing environment
- Problem solving skills
- Willing to work evenings and weekends as required
