YouTube Channel Manager, Mentour Pilot

We are looking for an experienced YouTube Channel Manager to manage publishing operations for the leading aviation channel, Mentour Pilot. While YouTube is the heart of what we do, we're looking for a strategic thinker who can drive forward the brand's multi-platform growth, across Patreon, consumer products, audio platforms and more.
The ideal candidate will combine deep knowledge of the YouTube platform with an audience-first mentality, and have the ability to navigate data and performance insights to make the best decisions needed to drive audience and revenue growth. We're looking for someone with a commercial mindset as well as editorial instincts, buzzing with ideas for how to promote new Mentour Pilot initiatives.
You will undertake continual analysis of viewership using various analytical tools to inform strategic and tactical decisions and supply data for determining programming. Experience of title/thumbnail testing is a must. We're looking for a candidate who can influence Mentour Pilot content as well as its distribution, someone who is as comfortable feeding back on a TikTok edit as they are uploading a YouTube video.
Mentour Pilot has a mission to make air travel safer for everyone. It produces premium content with a dedication to accuracy. To excel in this role you don't need to be an aviation expert, but you do need to understand the brand, and be excited by our mission. Given the nature of digital publishing, some flexibility in terms of hours are required. In particular, you may need to work weekends, taking time off during the week to compensate.
Tasks
- Manage publishing operations for Mentour Pilot YouTube and its sister channels eg Mentour Now!
- Upload content, ensuring adherence to platform best practices.
- Identify opportunities to cross-post/re-version YouTube content for other platforms.
- Manage content output on all relevant publishing platforms, working closely with the Social Media Manager.
- Share performance and revenue updates with the wider team and company.
- Continuously optimise back catalogue content eg via new thumbnails and titles.
- Suggest content ideas and feed back on edits where appropriate.
- Utilise data analysis to provide actionable insights and growth strategies.
- Participate in meetings with internal and external stakeholders to present channel activities and performance.
- Keep abreast of YouTube platform developments, trends, and training.
- Optimise titles, descriptions, and keywords for SEO.
- Write and edit metadata and copy for videos and channels.
- Ensure Mentour Pilot brand values of accuracy and quality are upheld across all channels.
- Be the voice of the brand where required, eg responding to comments/DMs.
- Support digital marketing initiatives, eg create social promo plans for brand extensions such as the Mentour Pilot course.
Requirements
- 2+ years experience in YouTube channel management
- Strong understanding of the Mentour Pilot brand and mission
- Deep and current knowledge of the YouTube platform and algorithm
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with creative teams, and provide clear direction and feedback
- Strong attention to detail, with a commitment to quality control and editorial standards
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex ideas in a clear and concise manner
