Job Summary
As our Senior Paralegal, you will provide comprehensive legal support to the company, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations. Your responsibilities will include reviewing terms and conditions, liaising with funders, advising on a wide range of legal matters, including property law, contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and managing our panel of external solicitors. You will collaborate closely with internal and external
stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will have in-house experience within property law and commercial contracts and demonstrate adaptability in handling a variety of legal matters.
The Senior Paralegal will report to the General Counsel.
Location: Reading or London
Hybrid: 4 days in the office and 1 day WFH
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality, in-house legal expertise managing complex cases, advising senior leadership, and helping uphold our strong culture of continuous improvement and risk management.
- Provide legal advice and support on property transactions, including acquisitions, disposals, refinancing and residential tenancies.
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and other legal documents.
- Work closely with various departments to support the company's strategic objectives and mitigate legal risks.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, including GDPR, housing and tenancy laws.
- Coordinate and manage our panel of external solicitors ensuring best practise and value for money.
- Advise on regulatory matters and ensure the company adheres to industry standards and best practices.
- Conduct legal research and stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations.
- Collaborate with internal departments, including finance, acquisitions, lettings, and property management, to provide legal guidance and support.
- Develop and implement legal policies and procedures to mitigate risks and ensure compliance.
- Represent legal in meetings with investors, developers and other third parties.
- Contribute to a small, proactive, high-performing Legal team, championing best practices, enhancing our housing management expertise. This list is not exhaustive and may vary over time as required.
Skills and Competencies
- Law Degree or equivalent legal qualification.
- Minimum of 4 years commercial property experience.
- A good understanding of property development and commercial contracts
- In-house legal experience
- Strong knowledge of property law, contract law, and regulatory compliance including GDPR.
- Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
