About the role

At Balfour Beatty, we shape the communities of tomorrow while creating a safe, sustainable, and inclusive workplace today. We're looking for an experienced Works Manager to join our UK Construction Services team and play a key role in delivering complex, high-value projects across the North West.

As a Works Manager, you'll be responsible for overseeing and managing all aspects of complex work packages or sections of a project. You'll provide strong leadership to construction teams, ensuring programmes are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards of quality.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll coordinate multiple stakeholders, manage planning and logistics, and drive continuous improvement across project delivery. • Coordinate planning, scheduling and logistics to support critical project milestones.
  • Ensure high-quality delivery in line with design specifications and modern construction methods.
  • Work closely with commercial teams to manage budgets, contracts and procurement.
  • Develop and mentor your teams while fostering strong relationships with stakeholders.
  • Champion sustainability, digital innovation, and continuous improvement in project delivery.

Who we're looking for

We're seeking someone who thrives in a leadership role and brings proven experience in construction management. You'll be skilled at building strong teams, managing complex programmes, and finding solutions to challenges along the way. You will also have:

  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience leading multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Proven background in construction management within the relevant industry.
  • Expertise in programme planning, scheduling, budgeting, and cost control.
  • In-depth knowledge of health, safety, quality, and environmental standards.
  • Experience managing contracts, procurement, and stakeholder relationships.
  • Familiarity with modern construction techniques, sustainability practices, and digital tools (e.g. BIM).
  • Ability to mentor, motivate and develop people across teams and supply chains.
