WORKS MANAGER

What you will be doing:

An opportunity has arisen for an Works Manager to join the team at Thames, a Galliford Try business.

As a Works Manager you will report to the Operations Director and take full responsibility for ensuring works are executed safely, within programme and to the highest quality standards.

  • Participate in creating a knowingly safe working environment.
  • Coordinate and control initial site set up as required.
  • Oversee day to day construction and ensure coordination with the site team, client and contractors.
  • Attend meetings with and maintain necessary and regular contact with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ensure all site resources are utilised effectively with minimal waste.
  • Ensure effective coordination of resources working on the project.
  • Ensure temporary and permanent works are delivered in accordance with the design.
  • Careful material and plant management to meet programme and financial objectives.
  • Assist in planning and programming with site engineering teams.
  • Participate in site discipline meetings to aid effective coordination and delivery of the works.
  • Ensure Permit to work systems, inductions and briefing are correctly carried out.
  • Assist in the preparation of RAMS, COSHH assessments and safety plans as required.
  • Effective liaison and communication with site teams and subcontractors.
  • Undertake site inductions with all subcontractors.
  • Deliver toolbox talks and 10-minute briefings.
  • Ensure subcontractors deliver work to meet safety, quality and programme requirements.
  • Supervise subcontractors to ensure quality and "right first-time approach".
  • Monitor and record subcontractor performances.
  • Ensure delivery teams record and update site diaries.
  • Ensure the site fulfils all obligations for external compliance audits.
  • Monitor the capability of staff and subcontractors to undertake current and prospective workloads and report to senior project team.
  • Full participation in staff development review, training and mentoring.
  • Assist in identification of new processes, techniques and innovations on site.

Experience and Qualifications:

  • Construction related further education.
  • Member of professional body e.g. CIOB.
  • Relevant CSCS card.
  • IOSH / NEBOSH qualification.
  • Ability to work safely.
  • Able to communicate effectively with site team and subcontractors.
  • Execution of construction work in line with ITP's, quality standards and safety documentation.
  • Capable of delivering safety briefings & toolbox talks.
  • Able to read and interpret design drawings.
