Working Capital Team Lead (14m FTC)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Working Capital Team Lead to join our Finance team, based in the A&O Shearman Belfast office.

The Belfast Finance department provides services to the A&O Shearman network of offices covering management and financial accounting & reporting, revenue control, credit control, accounts payable and tax. Main offices currently served are London, Belfast, US, South Africa, Dubai, Israel, France, Luxembourg, Belgium, Netherlands and Germany.

There is a strong client service ethic, and we work to Service Level Agreements, targets and deadlines to deliver in line with client expectations.

What you will do

  • Lead and manage the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, development, and performance improvement
  • Oversee global billing, cash allocation, and collections, ensuring accuracy and timely processes to improve cash flow and reduce DSO
  • Manage and support a team of around 10, conducting regular 1:1s, delegating tasks, and handling escalations effectively
  • Drive a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement through process reviews and enhancements
  • Build strong relationships with internal teams and local offices, acting as a trusted advisor on debt escalations and bad debt cases
  • Prepare monthly reports and support month-end activities, including overtime when required
  • Contribute to projects and initiatives as requested by senior management

  • Strong people management skills, including hiring, developing talent, and fostering a high-performing culture
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with teams and senior stakeholders
  • High emotional intelligence with resilience and adaptability during change or busy periods
  • A positive, solutions-focused attitude with confidence to lead through complexity and drive continuous improvement
